We were lucky to catch up with ShaThaGoddess recently and have shared our conversation below.

ShaThaGoddess, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

During the pandemic, I decided to take a leap in faith to follow my dreams of being a music producer. I always enjoy creating music but I never had the confidence to pursue this career path. During the pandemic, I had a lot of free time on my hands and started making beats for my beat page. Once I made 5 beats, I started uploading to Beatstars and Youtube. It was super nerve-racking to share my music with the world, but I knew this was something I always wanted to do. I’m truly grateful I finally listened to my heart. Since I started to take my music career seriously, so many doors and opportunities have opened and this is only the beginning!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

What sets me apart from other producers is that I put my entire soul into my production. As a musician first and then a producer second, I like adding live instruments into my music which I feel is not the norm in this generation of music. Who is adding guitar solos to trap beats… Me! I am, ShaThaGoddess lol.

I missed the 8-minute-long songs with the piano or guitar solos at the end. Every note I play comes from the heart, if it does not feel right I will not add it PERIOD. My music is 100% inspired by my emotions, and I want the listener to feel what I feel. Music has saved me (literally) and I know my purpose in life is to reciprocate that same feeling to my listeners.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

A particular goal is to inspire as many other creatives to pursue their dreams as well. Chasing your dreams can be super scary especially when they are not conventional but is it possible! Anything is possible if you put your mind to it! I enjoy motivating other creatives by sharing my story and success. If I can do it then you definitely can as well! Just start now and don’t give up, and you will get to your destination.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is when strangers reach out to express how much they enjoyed my music. I look forward to new messages! This makes me happy because I usually do the same when I come across new music that I like. I would look up the artist or producer and give them their flowers! Being an independent musician is so hard and challenging. But having that random unexpected positive reassurance is just enough to keep going.
