We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sharon Zarzosa. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sharon below.
Hi Sharon, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission is and always will be to treat every customer with respect and value customer satisfaction over immediate profits. Respecting everyone is something that was instilled in me since I was a child. Over the years I have experienced that people will remember how you treated them and how you made them feel. I am a passionate person and after opening a business I quickly realized that it had was part of my company mission. To treat every customer with respect, value and honor.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was raised in beautiful San Diego. I love making people happy and making a positive influence in their lives. Opening West Coast has been a dream come true that I thank God for every day. I went to San Diego City College for Business management, but it’s always meant more than profits to me. It’s about using my God-given gifts to provide a reliable service to my community. I’m most proud of being a Mexican American female succeeding in today’s times.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
This is a story that still sort of hurts my guts. I wish I had the perfect business funding story. It would be nice to say I saved, properly invested and here I am receiving my interest. However, after being let go from a job I invested my retirement into my business because I believed in myself. I made a decision that I was not going to give up no matter how hard or how long it took to accomplish my goals. I set a goal not only to build a business for myself but to prove that anyone with my background and statistics could do the same. Sustaining my business during these past few years has been possible by working up to three jobs to cover expenses while my company went through its ups and downs that I’m sure a lot of other business experienced. The reason my business is standing today is because I never gave up and even when I didn’t see growth or even sustainability, I stayed true to my company mission of valuing and respecting each and every customer. That in itself is a real investment that you can’t always grasp in the short run but in the long run it is what has kept West Coast Registration Services on the map.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I opened my 2nd office in 2021. Shortly after I underwent a back injury that left me barely being able to walk for several months. During that time, I was going through the process of building permits, physical therapy, a 2nd job and setting up my new office. This required painting, building my desk, drilling cabinets and so on. To be transparent it was difficult. However, there is a power when you make a promise to yourself you find a way. It means something to me knowing that I dragged myself through physical therapy while reopening my business in a new location during covid all while working a 2nd job. It gave me a greater confidence to know that I am capable of overcoming a variety of obstacles.
