We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sharon Well. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sharon below.
Alright, Sharon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
After high school, I went on a deep journey of soul searching. After years of searching, I had a powerful encounter with the higher power in 2014. I found the key of unlocking my purpose and meaning to this life. I took the biggest risk of all time and it was to give my life to Jesus. I gave up everything, my agenda, my desires, my dreams on what I thought was fit for my life. I trusted that He had a better plan mapped out for me, even if it’s beyond my own understanding. Welp, surprisingly…He was right. My life immediately went into a complete renovation. The people around me that I once thought would be with me for life, faded. Many doors in my life had suddenly closed, as well as new doors had spontaneously opened. I felt my whole entire life shift into this divine alignment. I went from having little to nothing with my daughter, to birthing multiple businesses in a short span of time. I know this isn’t supposed to be a spiritual interview but I would be lying if I’m not saying what I’m saying right now. I gotta give it up for the Big Man Upstairs, my whole entire inspiration and creative journey is because of God! I felt God bring me back to one of my ultimate favorite childhood hobbies and that was playing with the camera. In 2018, I birthed my first film and photography business called “Sharon Well Studios” as well as many other businesses a few years later.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am created to create, I love everything that is related to art of all sorts. Since I was a young girl, I have had these visions in my head and I try to recreate them. I either liked to be in front of the camera or behind the camera. I used to get so fascinated with cameras and how they can capture exactly what’s in front of me. I got my first official camera in high school as a freshman, I was unstoppable ever since. To capturing raw moments, people’s emotion, architecture to concepts, angles and colors. I thought the camera is definitely the coolest gadget ever created and I STILL DO! Around 2012, my professional journey began. I had the privilege to start working with various artists from shooting behind the scenes, music videos to fashion editorial campaigns. I did not go to school for photography or film, the love, passion and ongoing vision was what had me thriving. I love when you capture the perfect shot, the “that’s it, that’s it!” shot, it is the best feeling. You can say abstract is somewhat my niche. I’d like to give society a different point of view through my eyes. I would like my projects to be felt and be able to speak the unspoken. What I am most proud of is knowing that my creativity and business actually transforms lives. From working with people that never felt comfortable being in front of the camera, to leaving the shoot with a different perspective about themselves. I feel accomplished when I find them walking out of the shoot more confident and assured than how they came in.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
What’s most rewarding for me as a creative is making an impact in people’s lives and sharing your talents with the community. Whether it’s reaching one person or a million, impact is impact. I love to bring out the creativity in others and share the movement. Some don’t even realize they even have it in themselves. When others see what I do and they’re being inspired to follow their heart, this too I find rewarding. My desire is to see people walk into their God given DESTINY! I don’t believe we are all meant for 9-5 jobs, if your heart screams and your soul yearns to do that thing., you should probably do it!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My ideas and concepts are all inspired through my spiritual journey with God. I believe there’s always going to be a light in any type of darkness, my creativity is that light. One of my goals is to raise awareness and funding for sex-trafficking victims, assist with women shelters, single mothers, orphanages and foster care. My heart goes out to them!
