Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sharon R. Lane. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Sharon R., thanks for joining us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
My writing coach and publisher Sharlrita DeLoatch encouraged me to write about something that will solve a problem for others. So, at the beginning of the announcement of the Covid-19 coronavirus, I took notice as to how the world came to a halt as what had been “normal” was no longer. Everyone had to make adjustments to daily living. The activities that we took for granted such as taking a walk outside, going to the grocery store to get supplies, making a trip to the bank for simple transactions, going to school and work to be amongst our peers now required us to wear a mask. We had to practice social distancing from family, friends, coworkers and educators. We had to answer Covid-19 related symptom questions to gain access to places of employment, businesses and schools. We had to be selective and do “drive-by” attendance to weddings, graduations, and funerals. The world had many questions and debates about vaccinations. People were confused, discouraged, frustrated, became depressed and unsure how to move and live amongst the unknown. I began to take notes and write about my view of Covid-19 and the importance of practicing self-care daily which is necessary for our well-being. This led me to write my first book The Silent Disruptor-How Practicing Self-Care Daily Can Help Break The Silence. Why this title The Silent Disruptor? When the announcement of Covid-19 coronavirus was introduced to us, it came on the scene silently but caused a great disruption.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello everyone! My name is Sharon Lane. Most of my working career has been in customer service with a few years of human resource management. My purpose and passion is to uplift, encourage and inspire others to see their value in the way they think, speak and act which includes providing essential and practical self-care tips that are necessary for daily living. As we all deal with the day-to-day of life, we must find ways to manage, decompress, find peace, enjoy moments of laughter, take inventory and purge what is not purposeful. I truly believe that once you know what your purpose and passion is people, places and opportunities will line up. So, my CTA (Call To Action) for you is to celebrate all your wins grand and small.
“Why celebrate the small wins, you may ask? Well, I believe if you celebrate even the small wins, you are continuously winning. When you have a winning mindset, you will achieve your goals even when they are not achieved in the order that they were written.” Excerpt from my book, The Silent Disruptor.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My purpose and passion that drives me is uplifting, encouraging and inspiring others. It does my heart good to know that my intentional listening and encouraging words have changed someone’s life.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Well, I believe that by me being consistent, genuine, encouraging, compassionate, an intentional listener and showing that when I want to give up, I remember my “why” and I keep going.
