We recently connected with Sharon McKay-Anguin and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sharon, thanks for joining us today. Can you share an important lesson you learned in a prior job that’s helped you in your career afterwards?
My most important lesson/experience I that I had was workload balance management. At my previous job I had to learn to multitask which involved processing health benefits. I was encouraged by a former supervisor to look at the bigger picture and prepare to have to assist others with a wide range of benefit processing. In less 2yrs later, I was granted my dream job POC San Antonio TX n Human Resources as an Assistant now potential 1yr later HR Specialist. Also most importantly it’s a virtual position. In HR promotions are sky’s the limit for my future retirement as well. My received advice Always Look At the Bigger 📸 Picture.
Sharon, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the industry by serving my country in the US Army and always had a desire to work directly with other veterans, civilians and family members in the military federal system. I am able to provide medical services such as health benefits, life insurance and 401K. I can truly say I’m set outside from others because of my Patience and the fact I truly care. I am proud of myself that I had a drive and confidence to not only get what I wanted but to help others. This confidence had guided me to do me in front of the camera whether I am Modeling or Acting. I Do Me.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Lesson I had to learn/unlearn are (2) points that I share with others: 1. Listen with your Big Ears Speak with your little mouth.
2. When Speaking always keep a steel tongue.
Both entails be careful not to share your Dreams with everyone.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
The most helpful ideas for success in my field is to network with other models and actors. We are all unique and most importantly we’re all in this together. Someone knows someone. Never burn your bridges with anyone this is a very small industry.
