We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sharnise Christy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sharnise thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
Starting from a challenging situation, I embarked on a personal journey that eventually led me to launch my credit business. It all began when I left a difficult situation for safety reasons, feeling emotionally broken. Initially, starting a credit business wasn’t even on my radar. However, witnessing how it had transformed my own life, I decided to help family and friends with their credit struggles, and that’s when things started to grow.
Moving from the idea phase to execution was a daunting process, as I lacked a mentor to guide me. I took things slowly, fearing that rushing might lead to mistakes. Reading books became my compass, learning about laws related to credit repair and setting up the necessary infrastructure. It was an intimidating experience, but I pushed through my fears and took the first steps.
The initial years of business were incredibly stressful, as I navigated the uncharted territory of entrepreneurship. I gained a newfound respect for established businesses that have weathered the test of time. Learning to develop standard operating procedures, assign roles, and delegate tasks to employees was a steep learning curve. I immersed myself in books and resources to expand my knowledge and adapt to the evolving demands of running a company.
Operating with limited financial resources, I persevered and learned through trial and error. I discovered the importance of pacing myself to avoid burnout and realized the value of bringing in a capable team. After 18 months, I made the decision to hire staff who shared my vision and could help me scale the business. It was a significant milestone, symbolizing growth and progress.
While officially launching in 2020, the anniversary of hiring my first employee held special significance. It represented a pivotal moment in my entrepreneurial journey, a testament to the progress made and the dreams coming to life.
Looking back, I am grateful for the challenges I faced, as they taught me invaluable lessons about resilience, adaptability, and the importance of building a strong team. Every step of the way, I continue to refine my business, driven by a commitment to excellence and the desire to empower individuals seeking a brighter financial future.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Allow me to introduce myself to those who may not be familiar with my story. I am a resilient individual who has overcome trials and tribulations that have broken many within my own family. Alongside being a wife, a mother of six, and an animal advocate, I am also an entrepreneur with a deep passion for empowering others.
My journey into the credit repair industry was sparked by a personal experience. I once hired a deceptive company that nearly destroyed my credit with false promises. However, after parting ways with them, I took control of my own finances and became the expert I needed. This experience motivated me to help others navigate their credit repair journeys.
In my business, I provide a range of products and services to empower individuals to improve their credit. I offer DIY products for those who prefer a self-guided approach to credit repair. Additionally, I offer personal consultations for those who are too busy to handle the process themselves. What sets my services apart is the inclusion of a team of attorneys at no extra cost to clients. These attorneys are ready to take legal action on behalf of my clients when consumer violations are identified, providing them with an opportunity to be compensated for any mistreatment they have endured. It’s a unique offering that goes beyond traditional credit repair.
I take immense pride in the results we’ve achieved for our clients. We have successfully deleted collections, student loans, bankruptcies, medical debts, and more. It’s a blessing to witness the positive impact this has had on our clients, helping them achieve their dreams of homeownership or starting their own businesses.
I want people to understand that bad credit does not define their worth as individuals. It is simply a circumstance that can be changed. I believe in providing hope and a pathway to financial freedom. If reporting companies violate your rights, we are here to help you stand up against them. Our team of attorneys is eager to identify violations and ensure that you are fairly compensated.
Partnering with an exceptional law firm has been a game-changer for my business. It was the best decision I made, and I am eager to share this opportunity with everyone. This year, I have ambitious plans to expand my team and introduce a program that offers no-cost services to those who qualify. It is my way of giving back and making a positive difference in the lives of even more individuals.
In summary, I am not just a credit repair expert, but a compassionate individual who understands that bad credit does not define a person’s character. I am here to provide guidance, support, and legal advocacy to empower others to reclaim their financial freedom. Together, we can overcome the challenges and build a brighter future.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
The initial capital to start my business came from bootstrap cash. At the time, I had limited knowledge about business credit, so I relied on my own personal funds. When I launched in 2020, the government provided stimulus checks, and with three children living with me full-time, I received an allocated amount for myself and my kids. I combined this stimulus money with savings I had accumulated to support and sustain my business.
I utilized these funds to cover various expenses within my business. Some of my investments proved to be valuable, while others taught me valuable lessons about discerning genuine needs from the recommendations of unreliable “gurus.” Despite making some less-than-ideal choices, I learned to navigate the landscape of business requirements and discovered what truly mattered for the success of my venture.
Through this experience, I developed a keen understanding of how to make the most of available resources and optimize financial decisions. It taught me the importance of financial literacy and making informed choices in business.
Although I started with limited capital, I am proud of the progress I have made and the resilience I have demonstrated. It’s a testament to my determination and resourcefulness as an entrepreneur.
Looking ahead, I continue to explore additional funding options and opportunities to expand my business. However, I remain grateful for the bootstrap cash that fueled my initial steps and provided a solid foundation for growth.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been word of mouth. The positive experiences and results my clients have achieved have led them to share their stories and recommend my services to others. This organic form of promotion has been instrumental in consistently attracting new clients and keeping my business thriving.
While word of mouth has been my primary avenue for growth, I recognize the importance of expanding my reach and helping more people within my community. To achieve this, I am actively seeking partnerships with other companies. These collaborations have the potential to provide my clients with access to additional benefits and resources, enhancing their overall experience and success.
By leveraging the power of word of mouth and forging strategic alliances, I aim to not only continue serving my existing clients but also extend my impact to a broader audience. My ultimate goal is to make a positive difference in as many lives as possible, empowering individuals to overcome financial challenges and achieve their goals.
