We were lucky to catch up with Sharleen Shayan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sharleen, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The mission behind Fiery Nova is to share the love of jewelry and crystals at an affordable price. The story behind this is, when I was younger, I was always attracted to crystals (before I even knew what they were). It has been a ‘healing’ passion and journey, and I always love seeing what else is out there, carved, etc.. When I started shopping for crystals these past few years, I noticed ridiculous prices, for something I had gotten for over half the price. I saw that I was not the only person that saw this, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and opened Fiery Nova!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Sharleen Shayan, born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Growing up in my early teens, I always got attracted to crystals and jewelry. I decided I wanted to share my love for them at affordable prices! As much as crystals and jewelry are growing, and people are on their healing journey, I want to be able to help them without people hurting their pockets! It has always been inside me to help people, and this is just a small way to do so. Until I find out bigger and better ways!
How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
As of right now, I only sell on Fierynova.com. Sometimes I will go ahead and sell on Etsy as well, but at the moment it is just my own website!
Have you ever had to pivot?
Having your own business, I feel like you are always pivoting! It is tough, things are always changing, but you have to be flexible and be able to change and pivot with it. There have been so many changes with Fiery Nova in the past few years we’ve been open, but that’s what makes it great – keeping up with the times.
