Sharita, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
I would definitely say I am happier as a business owner. Being a business owner gives me a rewarding life, happiness, and purpose. The creativity that I’m able to express in my daily life an owner is incomparable to the restrictions that the 9-5 gave me. I’ve always had a larger than life imagination, most of my days consist of daydreaming & reinventing. I do appreciate working the regular jobs though, I learned the structure of a business and how to run one. Most importantly, I learned customer service.
The thought crosses my mind at least once a month about the times I actually did work regular jobs. I remember the days of picking up my boys from school then rushing to drop them off so I could rush back to work to finish the day. Also the times I had to miss games and events because I was unable to request off or leave early. Working for myself has allowed me to plan and create the life that my family and I desire and connect with my community.

The mission to solve problems and lift spirits lead me to this industry. I come from the background of hairstyling & Trichology, so I needed to provide my clients with the much-needed stress relief and spatial support to endure the stresses of daily life.
Unravel Luxury Candles is a family owned and female operated small business with a passion for holistic re-centering and stunning aesthetics. We are mood setters! Our candles will instantly change the ambiance & atmosphere once lit. We create candles designed to inspire, soothe, comfort, and enhance any space or mood.
Lighting a candle daily has helped me cope with the unavoidable stresses in life. Our crackling, wooden wick candles help with anxiety, relaxing your mind and body. I’m always looking for ways to make my clients feel relaxed while also stimulating their senses, this gives them an euphoric experience to turn their homes into a sanctuary.
Helping our customers create new daily rituals set us apart from basic candle companies. Just taking a few minutes out of each day to spend with yourself is a life altering experience! Not only are our candles great companions on lonely days, but they leave behind a lovely fragrance that linger for hours after being snuffed (extinguished).

Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
Unravel Luxury Candles products are all created by hand, and manufactured in small batches in house. The company was started to help my clients and myself relieve stress in the salon & at home. It took countless hours researching, sourcing and hundreds of candles burned to create the perfect flame & scent throw. It took months of trail and error to succeed with fragrances that linger for hours after being snuffed!
I enjoy making the products by hand and do not plan on outsourcing manufacturing at this time. Providing quality products that are hand poured, crafted, and inspected meticulously is priority. I’ve learned that customers appreciate a superior product over mass produced products. We create candles designed to inspire, soothe, comfort, and enhance any space or mood.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Word of mouth is still the most effective form of building business in my opinion. In the candle business it is sometimes hard to convince the customers without smelling the product first, its only so many descriptive words you can use to win them over. Most candle lovers know what they want and can tell just by the fragrance notes that they will love the scent.
Thankfully I have a salon clientele that can smell and have first pick of my products. They normally leave with a few candles & room sprays for themselves, family and friends. Conversating and connecting with people everywhere I go has helped a lot on my part, but nothing beats a happy customer spreading the word about their new favorite candle!
