We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shari Thornes . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shari below.
Alright, Shari thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I came up with the name of my company because I realize there’s so many women especially in these times that are naturally the head of our households. Physically, mentally, and most important financially. I also realize the high demand for other women wanting to start their own businesses without the proper knowledge so I created a space to teach show and grow!
Shari , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
From day one I always knew I wanted to make a difference. A difference from how I grew up. No longer wanting to be a victim of my circumstances once I receive my degree I came up with a plan. Fashion has always been my top passion so I decided to start my very own boutique called I killed it clothing. After a few years I realize many women wanted to also start their businesses but didn’t quite know where to start. I feel obligated to help. So I create it a space where women would feel comfortable with receiving help from start to finish. Eventually I ended up becoming a certified life and business coach and I also wrote my first book. I guess you can say fashion designer went out the window once I realize how serious the demand was for entrepreneurship. my clientele started growing rapidly and before you knew it I had male clients, also clients from all around the world. At that point I contemplate it on starting yet another business to not limit genders. The executive decision became the name of my fourth business. Social media management grew into digital content creating. Literally anything my clients needed I made sure to get the job done myself. What sets me apart from other brand developers is that this is my passion and my heart is set on helping others and watching others successfully succeed !!
As we enter into the 4th and last quarter of the year, and I look at the past few years of I killed It Clothing, The Executive Decision and all of the business ventures and partnerships I have come to realize that each business has brought me good and bad experiences, but the common denominator is my continuing passion to help others to open varies types of successful businesses. I am so proud of myself. But then God or a Spiritual force shifted my thoughts process, and I started to think, I have helped a lot of entrepreneurs but sadly a lot of them did not continue and are now not in business. I further asked myself if I am put on earth to serve, yes even as a introvert, could I have been or be of more service to new existing, or individuals looking to restart their previous business. I somehow answered myself yes, but how was my next question.
I pondered and began the restructuring of one of my business “Her Of Household”. As a result of this mind shift I have decided with my team that “ Her Of Household” will specifically provide services to entrepreneurs and small businesses that assist with varies services such as administrative support, personal assistant services, customer service support, corporate event consulting and so much more.
All I know is that October 2022 “Her of Household” LLC will now offer services that will help my fellow sisters continue being Head of Household and Heads of Corporations.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Honestly the most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been absolutely 100% being authentic! When I first started my business of course I wasn’t professional most of the times however I realize that My audience didn’t care 50% of the time because I was being transparent. I’m not some cookie cutter entrepreneur. I always show the good the bad, ups , downs and I don’t hesitate to let my audience know when business is slow. I believe that’s why they watch me till this day.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Via social media I see many first time entrepreneurs struggle with their start ups. often expressing how upsetting it is to continue. Quite naturally once I see discouraging post I jump right in to encourage and offer my services.
