Shari , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?

Shari , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Imagine counting over 37 bottles of lipsticks from all your favorite cosmetic lines only to realize that they all had one thing in command, they do not stand up to their reputation, I launched my own research and came up with what I wanted i just wanted a lipstick that did what it said it would (LASTS). Compelling cosmetics is the latest project created by Shari Beckford. Compelling is what she chooses to name a baby project (BRAND). This company was established in 2023 and came to the market in 2024 of march. It took over seven months to create her first product (matte lipstick) compelling lipwear. Shari took time to ensure that her lipstick line would not be a myth or a taboo to women who deserve quality for their money,
This brand is a house name to mainly working-class females that don’t have the time to keep retouching.
Compelling lipwear is just the first product to be released under the compelling cosmetics Brand. We deserve lipstick that makes our lips look and feel complete. You’re not ready if your lips aren’t wearing something beautiful or shiny. Lipstick is like clothes we all want the best quality at an affordable price. When we look good, we feel good. That’s why compelling lipstick is the best choice for your lips. With the long-lasting comfort from wearing compelling lipstick, it is going to make you forget those other overly priced lipstick that doesn’t last like they say they do. I have been a victim of buying overpriced lipstick that doesn’t last as long as they say it would. When I decided to have my own brand of lipstick it took me months to figure it out however I did. The name was the reason I can say I’m proud to be the founder of compelling cosmetics. I wanted a product that stood up to its reputation and allowed lips to breathe while looking gorgeous. I am Shari Beckford the future of great make-up.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

My business life started at the tender age of 8 years old, where I come from, we don’t set up lemonade stands, we put drinks in a bag and call it suck-suck or sky juice. That was my first business ever. That was my first encounter with an unfair world for an honest trade. I was just a child looking to make some cash so she could buy dolls and candy, I had lots of older relatives that would protect me. it was not so for me i had 2 older cousins who would take me drinks and then bullied me about why they would not pay me. That was my first battleground in the world of business. whenever they would take my stuff, it gave me such a deep feeling of anger and aggression towards them. However, that did not stop me from wanting to do business. By the time I got to high school I stopped selling sky juice, I now sold lollipops to my fellow mates. There I gained my profit and started to save. I did run into a bit of trouble with my teachers for distributing to receive financial gain. However, that honestly never stopped my distribution, it only made me do it more cautiously. I’ve encountered many disruptions financially over the last decade from doing business on my own. The true strength of a woman in business in what she wears and how she appears after facing many setbacks. My biggest loss in business was between the year 2018 to 2022. I took the biggest hit of my business life. you think I would stop or quit after all that I’ve been through honestly, I think I like the thrill of completion even if others tear it down later on at least I completed it. I am a compelling woman. I wear lipstick alone (laughter). Les Brown, a famous speaker once said if when you fall down you can look up that means you can get up, that’s all I do every day I keep getting up despite all I have dealt with in the past. Compelling Cosmetics is the newest project to be established by a woman that will never stop trying no matter what.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

I used my afterpay app to fund start requesting samples and experimenting. I also ask various persons to help which I got no positive feedback from only one person stood up and assist in making this project possible they would like to remain anonymous. when starting a new business no one will really finance you until you have truly showed them value in which they see a return.
