Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shara Armprester. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Shara, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
How I Came Up With Natural Beauty Cuties
Honestly, it all started by mistake. I was working in the school system, and I always kept condoms, sanitary napkins, and other supplies in my office for the girls just my way of making sure they could protect themselves in every way possible.
One morning around 9 a.m., a young girl asked me for a sanitary napkin. I didn’t have one, so I walked her to the main office and got her a tampon one of those outdated, old-school ones. As I handed it to her, apologizing for the quality, I asked how many she needed. She said, “Just one.”
That stopped me. “What do you mean one? Is someone bringing you more? Will your parents drop some off? Will a friend give you some?” Her answer was no she truly thought one would last her the whole day. I took a moment right there to educate her on why she would need more than one in a day, how often to change, and how it protects her health. That moment broke my heart, but it also lit a fire.
After school, I went to the store, bought pads, and started color-coding them pink for regular, green for super, blue for overnight and even included panty liners. I handwrote cards explaining what each product was for and when to use it. It didn’t take long before I realized this needed to be more than just handing out supplies. I decided to create my own branded, intentional organic product line designed from the ground up so I could control the quality, the education, and the experience that came with it.
I realized so many girls and women have never been fully taught about their cycles. Periods are still treated like something shameful, especially in the Black community. Through my research and conversations with elders, I learned that for some Black families, this silence goes back generations even to slavery, when families hid menstruation to protect girls from being assaulted. Over time, that survival tactic became a stigma, and the conversation about periods was pushed into the shadows.
Natural Beauty Cuties was born to break that silence. Our mission is to remove the shame, normalize the conversation, and educate girls and women about their bodies, their cycles, and their worth. I teach workshops that cover everything from self-confidence to menstrual health, including conditions like fibroids and endometriosis, and why it matters what products you use because your skin is your largest organ, and many pads contain harmful chemicals that can be reabsorbed into the body.
What makes us different is our intentionality. Every Natural Beauty Cuties box includes peer-led education how often to change your pad, fun facts, and a daily supply of period products in one box so girls and women have exactly what they need to get through the day. We still use our original color-coded system, plus monthly kits so no one is left without the products they need.
For me, it’s more than products. It’s about giving girls and women the knowledge, the tools, and the confidence to say without shame: I’m on my period.

Shara, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
About Me & Natural Beauty Cuties
My name is Shara Armprester, and I’m the founder of Natural Beauty Cuties a brand, and a mission rooted in menstrual equity, self-care, and confidence-building for girls and women. My background is in child welfare and social services, with years of experience working directly with youth and families to ensure their safety, well-being, and access to resources. That work gave me a deep understanding of the challenges young people face — not just in meeting basic needs, but in feeling seen, heard, and valued.
I also spent years in the school system, where I often found myself being more than just what my job title was. I was a safe space, a resource, and a voice for the young women I served.
Natural Beauty Cuties was born out of one of those everyday moments that changed everything. A student asked me for a sanitary napkin, and when I learned she only planned to use one for the entire day, I realized the depth of the knowledge gap. I educated her on the spot and went home that day determined to do more. I began creating color-coded menstrual kits with educational cards explaining each product and when to use it. Over time, I developed my own branded line of products so I could ensure quality, education, and dignity were built into every single box.
What We Provide
We offer both products and education. Our menstrual care line includes:
Daily kits – everything a girl or woman needs for a full day of her cycle in one discreet, grab-and-go box.
Monthly kits — a full supply for the month, designed to remove the stress of running out or going without.
Color-coded system — to make it easy to know which product to use and when.
On-box education — how often to change products, fun facts, and health tips, so every kit becomes a teaching tool.
Beyond the products, I facilitate workshops on self-care, self-worth, and menstrual health. We cover important but often overlooked topics like endometriosis, fibroids, toxic ingredients in pads, and how to advocate for your health. I also work with schools, community centers, and parents to help break the stigma around talking about periods openly.
The Problem We Solve
We’re tackling two major issues:
Access — Too many girls and women face “period poverty,” meaning they can’t afford or access the products they need.
Education — Many have never been taught the basics of menstrual health and care, often because of cultural stigma or generational silence.
What Sets Us Apart
Natural Beauty Cuties is intentional in every detail from the products themselves to the packaging, messaging, and workshops. We’re not just selling pads; we’re creating a safe, informed, and empowering experience. Our approach combines menstrual equity with peer-to-peer education and cultural awareness, making it relatable and impactful.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m most proud that what started as one conversation with a student has grown into a movement that’s changing the way girls and women see themselves. We’re helping them walk in confidence, advocate for their health, and know they’re worthy of care and dignity every single day of the month.
What I Want People to Know
Natural Beauty Cuties isn’t just about periods. It’s about worth, confidence, education, and breaking generational cycles of silence. It’s about creating a world where no girl or woman has to whisper about her body or go without the care she needs.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A Lesson I Had to Unlearn
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was silence. When I first started my cycle, I didn’t understand what was happening to my body, and I didn’t feel safe asking questions. Instead, I used napkins and even socks as makeshift pads because I simply didn’t know what else to do.
That early experience taught me how isolating it feels to navigate something so important without guidance and it’s the reason I’m so committed to making sure no girl or woman has to go through that alone.
Years later, when I began working with girls and women through Natural Beauty Cuties, I saw that same silence showing up in their lives. That’s when I realized my own story wasn’t just a painful memory it was the blueprint for my mission.
There’s a saying: “You’re never given more than you can bear.” At the time, I didn’t understand why I was going through that experience, but now I see how it prepared me to approach conversations about menstrual cycles with empathy, honesty, and care.
What once felt like shame is now part of my purpose. I’m proud that I can speak openly, so the next generation of girls and women will never feel they have to suffer in silence.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Books That Have Shaped My Entrepreneurial Thinking
One of the most impactful books I’ve read is Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life… and Maybe the World by Admiral William H. McRaven. A dear friend I hold in very high regard recommended it to me, and it set the tone for how I approach my days as an entrepreneur. The message is simple: start your day by accomplishing one small, intentional task. For me, that translates to structure, discipline, and momentum. Even on the days when the to-do list feels overwhelming, making my bed reminds me that I’ve already achieved something and that mindset carries into everything else I do.
Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki is another cornerstone in my entrepreneurial journey. It shifted how I view money, wealth, and the difference between working for income and building assets. It taught me to think long-term and focus on creating lasting value instead of chasing short-term wins.
Then there’s The 50th Law by 50 Cent and Robert Greene, which completely reframed my relationship with fear. It’s about embracing fearlessness not by pretending fear doesn’t exist, but by refusing to let it stop you. That book pushed me to take leaps in business, make investments even when the ROI wasn’t guaranteed, and trust that growth happens outside the comfort zone.
Finally, Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins was a masterclass in resilience. The push, the drive, the stamina he talks about that’s exactly what you need in business. His story keeps me grounded and reminds me that no matter the obstacles, the mindset you choose will determine whether you stop or keep going.
Each of these books has left its mark on me teaching discipline, financial intelligence, courage, and mental toughness. Together, they form the foundation of how I lead, how I make decisions, and how I keep showing up for my business every day.
