We were lucky to catch up with Shar Schmidt recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Shar thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017. Along with that diagnosis came a lot of unexpected health issues, which I wasn’t expecting. I thought I’d do the chemotherapy, the radiation, the surgeries & my life would just pick up where it left off. I’d go back to my job & everything would be as if I’d hit this “pause” button. That wasn’t the case at all. I developed other illnesses from cancer that meant I’d never be the same as I was before. It was difficult to accept. I needed to take more medications & have more surgeries. Have more scans. It made me anxious, moody, & depressed. I discovered crystals in 2018 & placed them near my bedside, around the room. I started meditating with crystals. And then I thought, I’d really like to WEAR them close to my body. None of the sellers had exactly what I needed, so I decided to make my own! I began giving them away to friends & family, who asked, “why aren’t you selling these?!” And so one day, I decided to create my own jewelry line. I make things that I love wearing, & share it with others that love the energy that crystals bring to your day-to-day life.

Shar, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

There are a lot of jewelry brands out there, & it can be hard to choose what businesses to support. I think what sets me apart from bigger brands/businesses is that I make every single piece ordered by hand. Just me. What that means is as soon as your order is received, I start creating your pieces. I create the pieces specifically for you! So when I’m working on your pieces, while others may order the same items, the ones I’ve made for you are just for YOU & YOUR ENERGY. I’ve made them with intentions for it to go to you, so when you receive it, you can feel the positive vibes coming from your pieces. All jewelry comes cleansed, charged, & ready to wear as soon as you open your package. I also offer crystal consultations, you can ask questions about what crystals would work best for your needs & I will offer suggestions of pieces that will help you heal. You can also ask me about a crystal not in my shop & I will do my best to find it & make it for you. Custom pieces contributes to my sales as well. My goal is to bring my clients healing.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

I had to unlearn giving out free pieces to anyone that asked! I had a lot of “influencers” on Instragram DM me asking for free pieces in return for posting about my business. I learned that if someone really wants my pieces, they’ll support my business by making a purchase.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

Having gone through cancer treatment, I’m not going to give up when it comes to my business! There were a lot of times I felt like just saying “no, no more.” But I had to push through. I do that withmy businessns as well. It’s hard sometimes, but I know it isn’t always going to be.
