Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shaqueria Arnold. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Shaqueria, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
My web series, Miss Nina, was my first ever scripted narrative script that I wrote. I wrote the first episode when I was 15 and the script just always stuck with me. After years of doing music videos, I finally felt the time was right to put together my first series. I spent a lot of time and energy putting this show together and to finally produce and release it was a beautiful feeling. I did it with not a lot of resources or money and we faced so many obstacles putting it together, but to finally see the end product was an amazing feeling.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I first bought a camera back in 2016 with the intention to start making YouTube videos. I have been writing scripts since a kid, but never had the confidence to fully put them together. So, when I bought my camera, instead of creating films off jump, I started shooting music videos because I knew so many artists around me. This led to me shooting music videos for the next six years and building my portfolio full of music videos, commercials, and short films. In 2021, I officially created Arch Street Productions, a film company specializing in films and shows.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Being specifically known as a music video director, I felt really boxed in and trapped in that realm. This year, I decided to finally breakaway from that and start producing my own films and shows and released my first web series “Miss Nina”. I was worried about how people would perceive my work, because I have never produced anything for myself, and the feedback has been amazing.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
“You have to do it yourself”. Starting out in music videos, I never really needed a team, it was always I just need to come to the shoot, set up lights, shoot, and edit. But putting a whole series together like Miss Nina, I needed a team. I needed help. I had to ask for help. Which for me is tough because I always feel like I can handle things alone and don’t like asking people for their time, but in order to get Miss Nina done, I needed that. And my production team for Miss Nina did amazing.
