We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shaquasha Llopiz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Shaquasha, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?

To be successful you must invest in yourself , be professional at all times, stay determined , and work hard ! There are many other individuals who do the same thing and has the same vision as well so I suggest to focus on your goal , stay motivated and just work hard. With those things you can’t go wrong with success. It comes from within.

Shaquasha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Dj Qua “Da Prodigee” well known female dj from Brooklyn NY. I have been djn for about 15 years. I started out as a rapper in an all male group but I have always had an ear for music. I branched off and started getting into djing. My cousin T-Nabella was one of the top djs in bed stuy brooklyn and I would go to his house and play around on his equipment until I decided to ask my parents for my own. My parents brought me my first dj set and I practiced everyday in my house to a point where I became so good at it that I started to share it to the world on social media. This is then when I was recognized and got my first gig. After i showed up and wowd my first gig I began to get many gigs because more people started to hear me. Here I am years later now djn for independent artists , djn on many big club and lounge sets, I have traveled internationally to dj and I am still going.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is being able to dj for different people and crowds. Also I have met many celebrities and gained a lot of exposure and opportunities. With being a creative and having the talent and ability to do it is a reward in itself. Creativeness creates magic.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

My passion for music and wanting to the set the bar and break the barrier for female djs is what drives my journey. I am apart of a predominantly male field so being a female in the industry I already have to prove myself beyond measures. So my goal and focus is always show up, show out, and leave people thinking “I had a great time”.
