We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shantel SolE’. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shantel below.
Shantel , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of our favorite things to brainstorm about with friends who’ve built something entrepreneurial is what they would do differently if they were to start over today. Surely, there are things you’ve learned that would allow you to do it over faster, more efficiently. We’d love to hear how you would go about setting things up if you were starting over today, knowing everything that you already know.
There are several things that I would do differently if given the chance to start over again. But most importantly, I would have started much sooner. For 5 years, my goal as a singer/songwriter was to be successful as a performing artist. I knew I wanted to make a career doing what I loved, but I had no idea how to make it happen. I do believe in God’s timing, but had I viewed my voice for its full potential sooner I could have gotten here alot faster with less capital.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name Is Shantel SolE’ and I’m a singer/songwriter. Currently, I’m a full-time Voiceover Artist in Atlanta,GA. As a freelancer, my business provides Voice Services such as ads, narrations, voiceovers, jingles, and sonic branding. I got into the industry after moving to Atlanta, Ga, with a goal to turn my passions into a career. After researching I found a market that not only I could thrive in, but that brought me satisfaction. My 5 years of experience as a singer/songwriter prepared me to be able to write songs about literally anything. My writing skills have set me apart tremendously from other Voiceover Artist. Most client’s I receive have alot on information they need to give potential customers in only 15-30 seconds. I take pride in being able to solve my client’s issues by providing jingles or sonic branding that is professional, marketable, and most importantly, memorable. What I’m most proud of as a voiceover artist, is that I get to help build someone else’s business/brand with my voice. It makes my heart smile when I’m just scrolling on social media and hear a jingle or Ad I did for a client. The feedback from clients over the year has helped me understand just how much of an impact my voice brings. Going forward I plan to work with bigger clients and help as many businesses as I can along the way.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
At the beginning of this year I made a huge decision to pivot from a 9-5 worker to a full-time entrepreneur. I always wanted to work for myself, but I had no idea what I wanted to do. I had so many creative hobbies that I enjoyed, but none of them involved music. The temp agency I was working for at the time ended in a month. I told myself that was my deadline to start my business. At the end of the month I purchased my LLC and found my niche in the process. I learned the ins and outs of freelance markets and my entrepreneurial journey began. My business is coming up on its 1 year anniversary and I’m so glad I wasn’t afraid to pivot.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My best source of new clients has been word of mouth or should I say word of “ear”. I’ve received alot of clients who start the conversation with, ” You did a jingle for my friend’s businesses and I loved it !” It’s one of the best feelings. The next best source of new clients are my reviews. I’m so grateful for my clients who share their experience with positive reviews. It helps potential clients get an idea of what to expect.
