As a woman who personally understands the challenges of living with PCOS, particularly the inconvenient symptom of hirsutism, which causes excessive hair growth. The constant burden of having to shave every other day not only overwhelmed me but also left me feeling self-conscious. This led to frustrating issues such as hair bumps, dark spots, and a less appealing chin and neck area. Determined to find a solution, I went on a mission to discover natural and affordable products that could reduce the frequency of shaving and fade those stubborn dark spots. To my surprise, I searched the market but found no products that met my needs.
However, this setback didn’t deter me. Instead, it motivated me to take matters into my own hands and develop my own product line. The journey was far from easy, filled with extensive research and numerous failed attempts. But through my non-stop determination, I eventually discovered the perfect combination of natural ingredients that yielded the desired results. To my surprise and delight, not only did my skin improve, but even my husband, family, and friends found relief and achieved the results they had been longing for after using my skincare products.
Realizing that there were others out there experiencing the same struggles, I felt I needed to share my products with the world, and that is how T-Khia Creations was born. I founded this company to provide practical solutions based on my own personal experiences.

Hi, I’m Shantasia, the proud owner of T-Khia Creations. As a wife, mother, and someone who faces the daily struggles of PCOS and eczema, I am deeply committed to providing my customers with solutions that larger companies have often overlooked.
As an African American woman, I have experienced countless instances where my concerns and problems were brushed aside, simply because they were not deemed a priority by others. However, these experiences have fueled my determination to find creative solutions to my personal issues. Along the way, I discovered that these so-called “problems” were far more common than I initially thought, with many others facing similar concerns.
Helping others is my true passion in life, and through T-Khia Creations, I am able to create solutions based on my own personal experiences. While our current focus is on serving those with PCOS and eczema, our beauty products can be used and enjoyed by all!
Our product line includes a Facial Hair Reduction Serum, Rejuvenating Scrub & Facial Wash, Self-Spa Clay Mask, and Clarifying Gel Toner. Each product has been carefully developed and crafted with attention to detail, ensuring the highest quality and effectiveness.
Though we may be a small company, we are growing each day, and we pride ourselves on paying attention to every detail when creating new products and fulfilling orders. After each order is received, we make sure to sanitize all containers before and after creation. We also prioritize wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain the utmost cleanliness. We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
I started selling my handmade products on Etsy, attracted by the platform’s vast daily traffic of millions of potential customers. It was a great choice, especially for beginners or those looking to launch a side hustle, as Etsy takes care of marketing on your behalf.
However, there are a few downsides to selling on Etsy. They have the authority to remove your listings or even close your store if you violate their platform rules or if your products don’t align with their guidelines. Additionally, the fees charged by Etsy can significantly eat into your profits, which can impede the overall growth of your small business.
To address these concerns, I made the switch to Shopify, and I couldn’t be happier. One of the things I appreciate about Shopify is the abundance of video tutorials and helpful resources available. They offer a wide range of website layouts and customization options, allowing you to showcase and sell your products without the worry of sudden closures or listing takedowns due to rule violations.
Of course, there are a few drawbacks to consider when using Shopify. Firstly, there is an upfront cost involved, either in the form of monthly or yearly fees. This financial commitment might pose a challenge for new businesses that are still establishing revenue streams. Additionally, unlike Etsy, you are responsible for your own marketing efforts, which can be daunting for those who are just starting out and may struggle to drive traffic to their website.
While Etsy offers the advantage of ready-made marketing and a suitable platform for beginners, the potential risks of listings being taken down or stores being closed, along with the substantial fees, led me to transition to Shopify. With Shopify, I have greater control over my store, a wider range of customization options, and the ability to avoid penalties for rule violations. However, it is important to consider the upfront cost and the need for independent marketing strategies when making the switch.


What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A valuable lesson I’ve learned is the importance of starting small and strategically growing at a steady pace. It’s okay not to have everything figured out from the beginning because starting a business is not for the faint of heart. While taking classes and attending seminars can provide guidance on running a successful business, it’s crucial to understand that blindly following someone else’s exact steps won’t necessarily lead you to where you want to be. I had to unlearn the notion that staying strictly on the beaten path would guarantee success. Sometimes, you have to venture off the conventional route and explore unconventional ideas that align with your vision.
For eight years, I worked in the healthcare field of Athletic Training, diligently following the instructions and teachings of my professors. I excelled academically, earning impressive grades and maintaining a high grade point average. However, upon graduation and passing my licensure exams, I quickly realized that what I had learned in the classroom only served as a foundation. The real world demanded that I build upon that foundation independently.
I discovered that while the initial special tests and rehabilitation exercises I learned were important, there were numerous alternative approaches to achieving the same skill or outcome. It wasn’t necessary to rigidly adhere to the textbook methods. Instead, I needed to embrace the flexibility to explore different techniques and find the solutions that best suited each unique patient.
By embracing this mindset, I gained the confidence to think outside the box and innovate within my field. I realized that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to success. It’s about continually learning, adapting, and finding what works best for both myself and those I serve.
Starting small and gradually growing, while being open to unconventional ideas, has been a crucial lesson in my journey. It’s essential to go beyond textbook knowledge and recognize that success often requires venturing off the beaten path. By embracing flexibility and continuously learning, we can achieve better outcomes and make a positive impact in our respective fields.
