We were lucky to catch up with Shannon Weiss recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Shannon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The idea for my business was born out of my own transformation through motherhood and healing. After having twins, I realized how little support women receive during the sacred window after birth-not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. I became a birth doula first because I was deeply moved by the power and beauty of women bringing life into this world- and being able to see if from the giver perspective, really healed my own birth trauma. After attending several births, thought, I realized something profound- the birth itself is just the beginning. The postpartum period is where the deepest healing, transformation, and sometimes greatest struggles truly unfold. That’s where I felt called to focus my energy. As I supported mothers in those tender first few weeks, I began to notice a patter- many were trying to heal and nourish themselves with limited support, in a culture that tells them to “bounce bacK” instead of slow down. I discovered Ayurveda early on in my postpartum journey and knew that was my path! As I continued to grow, I also began my journey intro sobriety. That experience cracked me open to what true nourishment and clarity really feel like- and I deepened my desire to help women heal from the inside out, not just survive but thrive in their most tender seasons. About six months ago, 4 years into sobriety, I discovered molecular hydrogen water, and it instantly felt like the missing piece. Water became a metaphor and a medicine- a bridge between the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda and modern wellness science. I felt the difference in my body, my energy and my creativity, That’s when my vision expanded: to bring water education, ritual, and nourishment together- helping women restore their vitality, balance their nervous systems, and reclaim their radiance. What excites me most is that this work continues to ripple outward- empowering other women to heal, rise and create abundance through this shared mission.

Shannon, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Im Shannon Weiss, an Ayurvedic Postpartum Chef, Doula, and Water Wellness Educator based in Folsom, CA. My work bridges ancient feminine wisdom into modern wellness, helping women restore their vitality, nervous system balance, and a sense of sacred connection after birth and beyond. My brand, Double the Love Doula, began as a way to support mothers through the tender postpartum window- what Ayurveda calls the “sacred forty two days”. I create personalized nourishment experiences rooted in plant-based Ayurvedic meals, herbal infusions, and ritual care. Over time, my work evolved to include a deep passion for hydration and the energetics of water, I realized that water is medicine- not just for the body, but for the spirit.
What sets my work apart is how I weave these worlds together: postpartum care, water education, reiki, and feminine embodiment. I teach women to reconnect with themselves through ritual, nourishment, and rest- and I empower those ready to build freedom-based businesses through the water wellness model.
At its heart, my brand is about helping women remember their power- to heal, to create, and to flow. Im most proud of the women who walk away not only feeling physically replenished but spiritually reawakened- ready to nurture their families, their dreams, and their purpose from a full cup.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
A little over a month ago, I experienced a huge life pivot- I was unexpectedly laid off from my corporate job in EdTech. It was one of those moments that felt like both an ending and a divine invitation. For years, I had been building my doula business and more recently my water business, and The Date Girl- my line of reiki infused, hand-stuffed chocolate dates crafted with ancient nourishment and feminine energy in mind… quietly in the background, dreaming of the day I could give it my full heart and attention. When that moment came, it was wrapped in uncertainty- but also deep trust.
Losing that job was my Tower moment- the crumbling that made space for what I’m truly meant to build. I decided to see it not as a failure, but as freedom.
Instead of rushing to replace what I lost, I decided to fully step into what I was meant to create. I poured my energy into supporting women through the sacred postpartum window, teaching about molecular hydrogen water, and expanding The Date Girl into local mini markets and collaborations.
This pivot has been about more than business- it’s been about trust. About turning a moment of loss into an opportunity for alignment. Every day, I get to build something heart-led, creative, and deeply connected to service- and it feels like I’m finally living the life I was dreaming of in the margins of my corporate world.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My resilience has been shaped through some of the hardest and most beautiful seasons of my life- motherhood, sobriety, and rebuilding my identity after losing my corporate job. Each chapter has taught me how to keep showing up for myself, my family and my purpose even when the path isn’t clear.
When I chose sobriety, it was an act of reclaiming my clarity and power. That decision cracked something open in me- it made space for deeper healing and the birth of my creativity. I began baking as therapy; sourdough and beyond, which led to The Date Girl- a business that started in my kitchen as a way to channel love and intention into something tangible. At the same time, I was growing my Ayurvedic Postpartum and water wellness work, supporting women through one of their most vulnerable times in their lives.
There have been countless moments of doubt, exhaustion, and uncertainty- but every time, Ive chosen to transmute challenge into creation. My resilience comes from remembering that Im not starting over; Im starting from wisdom. Each pivot, each fall, has been another layer of becoming!
