We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shannon Vivar a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Shannon , appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The Vitality Exchange Collective’s Conscious Leader Wellness Program is the most meaning-filled project I have taken on! Launching this year, this seven-month program is designed specifically for mid-to-senior-level leaders who want to incorporate a healthier mindset and overall wellbeing into their leadership style and life.
Having personally experienced the detrimental effects of chronic stress and burnout, I made the decision to leave corporate America in 2019. I embarked on an extended wellness sabbatical to redirect my life down a healthier path and redefine my own version of success. This journey of self-discovery led me to create WellStylist Lab, an online wellness community dedicated to holistic wellness, active aging, working futures, and regenerative living.
Throughout this incredible venture, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with amazing health and wellness coaches and professionals who have inspired me to create this new program. Looking back, I realized that had I sought their support earlier, I would have not only accelerated my personal transformation, but I could have significantly improved my effectiveness as a leader for my team and company.
That’s why I am passionate about providing leaders with individual and customized support. I know the pressures leaders face and the challenges of finding the right team of personal advisors and coaches. This program offers exactly that – a unique opportunity to access the support leaders need to thrive.
Shannon , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m the Chief Operating Officer of Mix Theory Studios, a music and multimedia production company based in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. My husband, Jesus Vivar, and I started this studio together at the end of 2020. Leaving my corporate job was a big turning point for me, and it ended up impacting my whole family. We decided to make a bold move and become entrepreneurs.
Combining Jesus’s incredible talent as a DJ and producer from New York City with the business skills I accumulated during my corporate career in accounting, finance, and strategy, we’ve opened a creative business that brings out the best in both of us.
Our goal at Mix Theory Studios is to help businesses, creators, and artists turn their ideas into successful ventures. We want to inspire our clients and provide them with a forward-thinking and supportive environment. Our studio is the perfect place to blend artistry, technology, and experimentation to bring your projects to life and make a real impact.
We offer recording suites, production services, and strategy for content creation. Our production services cover a wide range of projects, including original music, 3D sound design, podcasts, videos, voiceovers, advertisements, and audiobooks. We also provide support for both live and virtual events, managing everything from sound and video production to sponsorships and marketing.
I even take advantage of our services for my passion project. Drawing on the journalist background I gained as a US Marine, I’ve launched my own podcast called Investing in Vitality. This podcast is all about wellness trends and supports the mission of WellStylist Lab. I have conversations and share stories with members of our community, partners, and the Vitality Exchange Collective.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Our reputation in the market has been built on our strong communication skills and collaborative spirit. We believe in approaching our work with a holistic mindset, taking into consideration the local community and their needs. As an example of our commitment, we have actively supported the artist community during the city’s bicentennial celebration and have shared the inspiring stories of local nonprofits through video interviews.
What sets us apart is our dedication to not just understanding a client’s project, but how it fits into their overall goals and strategy. We bring fresh ideas to the table and work closely with our clients to encourage innovation and explore new avenues. Additionally, we strive to foster closer collaboration between artists, creators, and businesses through our local network, MTSJAX.fm.
With our communication skills, community involvement, and commitment to collaboration, we are more than just a service provider. We are a trusted partner who is invested in the success of our clients and the betterment of our local community.
Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
We organized a local wellness festival that showcased the amazing talents of local musicians, artists, and wellness professionals. It was a big project that not only promoted our studio, but also introduced my passion project, WellStylist Lab. Despite the doubts from others, we were able to successfully pull off the weekend-long event in just over three months. While the turnout wasn’t exactly what we had hoped for, the feedback we received from attendees was truly incredible. Many people had life-changing experiences.
Personally, I believe returns on investment comes in many shapes and sizes. We did take a significant marketing risk that required a substantial financial investment and left us exhausted afterwards. But the lessons we learned from organizing such a large-scale event were invaluable. They have given us the experience, confidence, and know-how to support other community events, such as the upcoming Women’s Wellness Fest in Jacksonville Beach to be held in April 2024 and the first Conscious Leader Wellness Retreat and Expo to be hosted by the Vitality Exchange Collective in 2025. Plus, we’ve formed meaningful connections with the festival attendees who have become a part of our community and the new program we’re launching through the Vitality Exchange Collective.
