We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shannon Koszyk a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Shannon , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My logo and tag phrase came to me in a dream, It was years before I used it for anything but knew I would someday. Fortune Favors the Bold has been my mantra ever since. Growing up want my favorite, finding my own way and own voice came at a hefty price.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I design and make jewelry with a strong point if view. I didn’t make jewelry to start a business I made it because I couldn’t find what I wanted in the market place. Traditional jewelry never resonated for me and jewelry is very personal, it is something you wear everyday, it had to feel like me. My business started when people started to ask me where I had purchased the pieces I was wearing and when I told them I had made it they asked me if I would make it for them as well. It all happened very organically and I had made things I wanted and when I found that other people wanted them as well it made me feel like I had found my voice. The best thing that I have to say has been that men like my jewelry just as much as women do and people always tel me that they feel stronger and more protected when wearing my pieces. My demographic is quite expansive and I love that, I didn’t want to be trendy.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Sure I was doing back to back trade shows and I herniated a disc in my back, I finished the show with ice strapped to my back, I wasn’t going down that way. My Dad actually said to me you are either brave or crazy or both. I didn’t want to let anyone down.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Yes my back landed me in surgery and I continued on with that trade shows after that and ended up back in the same situation. I was like ok my body is trying to tell me something. It was time to Pivot, so I was frightened to do so but I jumped off the trade show treadmill and opened a flagship. It’s not a one size fits all in business, you have to do what right for the business, like you would with a child. Not all children thrive in a traditional school environment, that was also true for me so having my business follow in the the same way made sense to me.
