We were lucky to catch up with Shannon Burgess recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shannon , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
At Brick House Graphics, our mission is to create bold, meaningful graphic apparel that helps people express who they are and what they stand for. We believe clothing is more than just something you wear. It’s a form of identity, culture, and voice.
Our mission is rooted in the idea that design can spark conversation, build confidence, and bring people together. Whether it’s a statement tee, a locally inspired hoodie, or a custom piece for a grassroots brand, we’re passionate about turning ideas into wearable art that resonates.
Our mission is meaningful to us because it reflects our roots.. We started Brick House Graphics to represent the voices, styles, and stories that mainstream fashion often overlooks. We’re inspired by the energy of our community, the hustle of small creators, and the power of visual storytelling. Every design we produce is intentional, built brick by brick to reflect strength, individuality, and authenticity.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
At Brick House Graphics, we are passionate creators of graphic apparel designed to help people express their individuality and values through bold, meaningful, and sometimes humorous designs. Our journey began from a simple but powerful idea. Clothing is more than fabric; it’s a way to tell stories, build community, and make statements without saying a word.
The founder of Brick House Graphics came from a creative background, united by a love for art, design, and fashion. We saw a gap in the market for high-quality, locally inspired graphic apparel that truly represents authentic voices and cultures, especially those often overlooked by mainstream fashion. This inspired us to start Brick House Graphics, a brand that builds every design with intention, creativity, and heart.
Our product line includes graphic t-shirts, hoodies, and custom apparel that speaks to the spirit of our community and beyond. Our designs range from funny and a little sarcastic to motivational and full of local pride. Whether it’s a design that celebrates where you’re from, encourages you to push forward, or simply makes you smile, our apparel is crafted to be a wearable form of self expression.
What sets us apart is our dedication to quality, thoughtful curation, and a customer experience that feels personal. We listen to our clients to ensure the apparel we provide connects, inspires, and helps people be part of something meaningful.
One of the things we’re most proud of is our ability to empower local voices and support small businesses and creators through our work. Every order we fulfill helps build community and contributes to a larger movement of creative expression and inclusivity.
For anyone considering Brick House Graphics, we want you to know that when you wear our designs, you’re not just wearing apparel you’re wearing a story, a statement, and a shared passion. We’re here to help you make your mark with style and purpose.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
One of the most effective strategies for growing our clientele has been participating in local vendor events. These events allow us to connect directly with our community, showcase our apparel in person, and build genuine relationships with customers. People appreciate being able to see, feel, and respond to our designs in real time, and those personal interactions often turn into loyal support.
We have also had the opportunity to feature our products in two brick and mortar stores. Being part of a retail environment helped us expand our reach and introduce our brand to new audiences who might not have found us otherwise. It added visibility and credibility, and it showed us the impact of having a presence in local spaces.
Both strategies, engaging with people face to face and creating in person brand experiences, have played a key role in our growth and community connection.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Like many small businesses, we’ve had moments where we had to step back, reassess, and pivot in order to grow. One of the biggest turning points came when we realized that simply selling online wasn’t enough to create the kind of impact and connection we were aiming for. While online sales were steady, we knew we were missing out on the energy and feedback that come from interacting with people directly.
That realization led us to start participating in local vendor events, which completely changed the way we engage with our audience. It allowed us to hear firsthand what people love, what makes them laugh, what they connect with, and what designs speak to their identity. It wasn’t just a shift in sales strategy. It was a shift in how we saw our brand’s role in the community.
This pivot helped us build stronger relationships, grow our loyal customer base, and become more responsive and intentional with our designs. It reminded us that sometimes growth isn’t just about scale. It’s about staying grounded and showing up where people are.
