Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shanna Reid. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Shanna, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

It is funny how I had nothing to do with this business but it had everything to do with me. It all started in the year of Covid when the world ‘paused”. I was investing a lot of time in my spiritual man and it was an amazing time for me. My spiritual growth was overwhelming and new versions of myself kept unfolding. I believe that was my season of purging and cleansing. Releasing all that wasn’t meant for me to receive what was and that lead to me into in a vision from God, I saw the name so bold in my sleep. GOGO-Gracefully Overcoming Great Obstacles. I woke up the next day remembering only the first two letters and I tried so hard to remember what I was given the night before but it would not come back to me so I went and I prayed about it; asking God to show me again and He sure did but this time I made sure to write it down and that is how GOGO With Shanna came about. Even though I wasn’t ready, I did not know what to do with it, wasn’t even sure what it was about but God chose me to birth it so i owned it, licensed it and continue to trust God with it. I knew this will be a worthwhile endeavor because the Bible tells me that every good and perfect gift comes from God. At that time I had also just published my first book, I was getting certified to be a Public Speaker then went on to getting certified to be a Christian Life Coach. All of this happening all at once could not have been a coincidence. Shortly after that I got my first speaking assignment then other opportunities started coming up, my book sales went up. I was nervous but excited for it at the same time.
I knew for a fact that there were many other Authors, Speakers & Coaches out there gifted to do the same thing that I am doing with a lot more experience and knowledge but I found confidence in knowing that even though we may look and sound similar what we carry is different and who we are called to is also different. We will all have our individual journeys, stories and experiences that will leave its impact at the right place and in the lives of the right people at the right time.

Shanna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Shanna Reid. I am an Author, a Speaker, a Christian Life Coach and the owner of GOGO With Shanna. I have successfully written and published two books and currently working on my third. I have a very powerful devotional called DIVINE INSPIRATIONS and also a great prayer and gratitude journal called DEAR GOD- LETTERS TO HEAVEN. My books inspire spiritual consciousness, spiritual growth and continuous gratitude. GOGO is Christian Life Coaching that helps to build confidence and character in individuals or groups that I have the opportunity to come in contact with. I help to solve the problems of low self esteem, fear, self limitations, limited and negative mindsets, etc. I desire to see people living fulfilling lives and being the best version of themselves because God has deposited something valuable in all of us; it is for us to find it, nurture it and bring it to life. I am most proud of my growth, the fears I’ve faced, the obstacles I’ve conquered and the lives I’ve touched. My journey requires mass sacrifice, commitment, consistency and complete submission to God while recognizing that I am unique, My brand is unique, my gift is unique and what I bring to the table is unique. No one can stop me but Me.
I encourage, I inspire, I empower. I love working with youths, teens and young adults. That is definitely where my passion is. My goal is not so much to be an influence but to leave an impact.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

The lesson that I had to unlearn; and this is a painful one, is the true meaning of friendship. Let’s go back to the launching of my first book in April , 2021. This was one of my biggest accomplishments thus far and I was excited. My Book Launch was carefully planned nicely executed and well advertised. All my “friends,” my then church family, loved ones and acquaintances knew about it. I was looking forward to the day and the turnout because they all said they would be there to support. If not financially then just physically. The big day came and to my surprise it was only around 15 people who showed up. ( Thank God for them). Everybody else had an excuse. Excuses turned into criticism, Criticism turned into envy, envy turned into disconnections. It was in that season of my life that I got the most empty promises and they came from the people I considered my friends. I was baffled by the lack of support but I did not allow that to stop me. I reevaluated my associations, lowered my expectations, kept on pushing and believing God that where there is a vision He will make provisions.
Real situations will show you real people. Believe in who you are and what you are carrying even when you have nobody standing with you. With or without them your vision lives and only you can abort it. Brace yourself for the disappointments and the rejections when you begin to elevate but find strength in knowing that God will reveal, remove and replace. He will put you in the right place and company for the right blessings to locate you. He did just that for me.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

Outside of being an author and entrepreneur, I have worked in the hospitality industry for many years. This is where I have had the opportunity to meet lots of different people from many different places and has this been my best source of new clients. The diversity of people that I have met is amazing. The different cultures and stories has always been a conversation starter for me and that gives me the perfect opportunity to share who I am with them as well. This has opened the doors to many opportunities for me to sell my books and network with others who can contribute to my growth and success.
