We were lucky to catch up with Shanequa Geter recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shanequa , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When you’ve been a professional in an industry for long enough, you’ll experience moments when the entire field takes a U-Turn, an instance where the consensus completely flips upside down or where the “best practices” completely change. If you’ve experienced such a U-Turn over the course of your professional career, we’d love to hear about it.
Hey Guys, I am back with the part of the story you did not get to hear about, as you know I am the creator of Sassy Teez Printing Co ( T-shirt printing), as I was creating the printing company I was in school to become a Medical Assistant. I decided on becoming an Medical Assistant: First; I love making a difference in a person life and Secondly; I needed a steady check. I never googled this position ,I saw it on a TV commercial and was like I’m going for it. As a Entrepneuer we have plenty of ups and down but through it all I graduated in the year of 2013 as a Medical Assistant. I entered the medical field with an OB/GYN office (expecting mothers & female medicine) then moved on to a Family Practice (general medicine), then a couple of Pain Clinics (All types f Pain). At the Pain Clinics I learned to assist in procedures which I was more excited about. As I worked in the these offices I learned the Medical Assistant was not respected and under paid, even though we performed all the functioning services in the office from the patient getting an appointment with the doctor to the patient receiving procedures and medications. I begin to have a feeling of I deserve more.
In the year of 2018 Sassy Teez was slowing down and so was my motivation to work as an Medical assistant. As I was experiencing this feeling to change, I was fired in September 2019. I decided it was time for CHANGE!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Shanequa Shawnte a person that holds many titles, but to define the services I provide. I am a Certified Medical Assistant , Wellness Coach and Body Contour specialist . I entered this industry in 2020 by a friend that will forever be apart of my story . I over came the burdens I was feeling working in the clinic and built a service I wanted to offer as a Medical Assistant.
My services include a consultation to go over your body goals, Health supplements( such as detox tea, healthy coffee and multivitamins) to help with your body nutrition and goals., Body Contouring (to aid in melting the stubborn fat) that’s resistant to diet and exercise as well to other parts of the body such as a facial skin tightening. I have also created a skin care line to help with facial needs that help with dry, hyperpigmented and acne skin. I am working on the body washes coming soon.
For the type of services I provide, my potential client will have to be intentional and be committed to the goals they set, to see the changes in their body they desire to see.
What sets me apart is I work with my clients one on one until we achieve the goals we set. such as meal planning. Most times when a person is given a grocery list they can not always create a meal, so I offer recipes to assist in the ideas. I also give a referral to a trainer for workouts. I follow up if you are outlining a weekly service to ensure you are following the plan.
I am committed to making an impact for people that want to get healthy and creating the body image they desire to see.
I am most proud of where my business is going and how I can assist my community to understand their Body and Health.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
The most helpful for succeeding in my field is to seek mentorship, someone in your field and someone out of your field.
The reason I am saying seek mentorship from someone out of your field because this person should help build your mindset, Having a positive mindset is and important key of being a successful business owner of any kind. We as business owners need to have a set of positive notes to turn to that can help organize your personal life to business life. I have virtual Mentor and she help with calmness, motivation to keep going, and to keep my WHY in my forefront of my mind , I learned to meditate and to organize my thoughts to what’s important now to help me with the day to day organization of my business.
Of course we all know why to get the mentorship with someone in the business. They give you ideas , can tell you what you are doing wrong, give marketing tips, business trips, can give tips of how to file your business taxes (taxes we business owners don’t speak about) before hiring a CPA, Can give you updates of what’s new in the field you are in. Overall a mentor can help you to the next level of your business.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
If I can turn back the hands of time , something I often speak about , The answer would be Yes kind of . The only thing I would change is the timing of my journey . I would complete my same steps as a younger person . Honestly my journey was dramatic but beautiful. Every Title I have earned, I learned something to build the business I currently have . If I didn’t learn the information I possess then I would not be as knowledgeable in my field as I am today.
Printing Skills – I can print my labels for my skincare line more efficiently. and I don’t have to outsource.
Medical Assistant – I can follow doctors orders in your health plan.
Wellness Coach – I can recommend products and give efficient client education
Body Contour Specialist – can perform the services I provide
Learn all you can in your present situation because the Journey you are on is going to lead you to a beautiful destination.
