We recently connected with Shanel Clark and have shared our conversation below.
Shanel, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
One of the hardest things for me as an artist is quality over quantity. In this day and age…. It’s all about quantity. My thing is I’m more about quality. I love good music. I like music that moves you and creates emotion. This project that I’m currently working on will be a direct reflection of me. It’s so meaningful to me because I put so much dedication and and passion into this body of work. It’s my first time allowing people into my creative process. I’m very detailed and precise. If you have ever been in the studio with me then you know im very particular about the sound and tempo and the feeling that comes across. I’m super excited to drop my first project. I know a lot of people have been waiting for this, so I’m super excited.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
It’s a GHETTO WORLD. I’m Ghetto Cinderella. I’m an upcoming artist. I say artist because I do I love to entertain by creating art. It can be music for acting. Right Noel’s, my main focus is music. I’m getting ready to release my first solo project. I am set apart by my ability to create real music. My stage presence is demanding of attention. I love the stage and the stage loves me. I have always been I to music and entertainment. I started as a dancer when I was 6 years old. Dancing led to my passion for music. When I was 12 I started writing music and freestyling for fun. Everytime I would freestyle people would tell Ke I should take it serious. However I was also very into acting too and felt that I had to choose. At the time I chose acting. But my first love was also music. It all came to a head when a friend (NC BEENO) hit me up to do a feature. This feature ( HUH REMIX) re ignited my fire for music and writing. After doing a couple shows I knew that I had to finally drop a project. I have been working on this for 4 years now. I’m most proud of just doing the damn thing. It can be hard to go after your dreams. Just take a step. I took a step and now I feel ready to keep stepping towards my dreams
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
There is so much behind the scenes to music. I wish there were more master classes on the business behind music. So much is trial and error. I feel like if there were more classes and mentors to help up and coming artist, a lot of the mishaps would not happen. It’s hard being independent in this business.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me the most rewarding thing is completion. Completing something that you started is so thrilling. To know you had a thought and then a plan and actually executed it is amazing. Even if you don’t get the response you want, you did something that most are scared to do. Be proud of that
