We recently connected with Shane Murray and have shared our conversation below.
Shane , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
The goal is to be a full time business owner /full time creative . I haven’t been able to do that yet. I’ve made small steps but more work needs to be done . I knew this would be a marathon and not a sprint . I’m confident I can make a full time living with my art .

I am an author of three books . I write poetry but I want to be an all around writer . I have more projects coming . I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA . Started writing poetry in the 7th grade .

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I want to get more involved with NFTs . I think it’s an another avenue for creatives to utilize to their advantage.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My first was published with iuniverse in 2016 but it was a bad business deal . I canceled my publishing deal , revised the book , and self published the book under my own LLC in 2018 . That same book has marketing /publishing companies calling regularly to try to work with me or republish it with their imprint. I’m committed to staying a independent artist .
