We recently connected with Shane Jasmine Young and have shared our conversation below.
Shane Jasmine, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
I’m not a “traditional” lawyer. While my career started in “Big Law,” and I had the opportunity to be a corporate executive and General Counsel for a financial services firm, my heart has always been in service to our community. Throughout my 20+ years in the law, I’ve seen too many instances of people not having the proper information and resources to make empowered decisions, especially when it comes to the things that mean most: their families and businesses. I focus first on educating so that people can understand the decisions they are making and take action now, before it’s too late, to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their assets, including their livelihood and legacy. My practice takes a holistic approach starting with a complimentary Family Wealth Planning Session (normally $1500) that includes a Discovery Meeting & Design Meeting so that we can address the specific concerns of the client, propose solutions and strategies to address their goals, and begin the drafting and design of their legal life plan. From there, we break down the process in digestible steps so it is not overwhelming, and we are able to do the heavy lifting to provide true peace of mind, knowing that their families and estates won’t end up in court and conflict. My practice is relationship-based, not a one-time transaction, where we will continue to be there to support you. Putting your plan in place is really just the beginning of our relationship.
Awesome – so before we ge into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I grew up watching my dad, an entrepreneur, lose everything as a result of trusting the wrong people, including his own lawyer. I didn’t want that to happen to me or anyone else I cared for, so I decided to become a lawyer. I started in Big Law, primarily practicing in commercial law, but my passion is for working with families and small business owners and having a larger impact in our communities. My firm’s practice focuses on Estate Planning (including Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Kids’ Protection, Pets’ Protection, Long-Term Care/Elder Law), Business Planning (including corporate governance and start-ups), and Personal Injury (including car accidents). We take extra care to ensure that we provide exceptional, relationship-based service to our clients, who we consider friends and family. We have been voted Best of Las Vegas 29 times and are proud to serve the Las Vegas community and beyond.
How’d you meet your business partner?
My business partner is my husband, Charles. He is our firm’s CEO/COO and oversees the operational side of the business while I focus on the Law. We met in 1995 and are high school sweethearts. We have been together ever since and have 5 daughters: Caira (23), Shaira (23), Caylyn (15), Camryn (14), and Samara (12). I’m so grateful to have him in my life as my partner in all things. It’s a great weight off my shoulders knowing that I have him there to support me and look out for the business.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I grew up in Las Vegas (as did my partner and husband, Charles), so we are deeply rooted here with long-time relationships. We have continued to build upon our relationships and have created a large network, utilizing our law firm as a platform and creating opportunities through our organization, Women Decision Makers. I believe these relationships, and how I have continued to show up in our community, is what has helped build my reputation in my market. I am relatable and genuinely care for others, and people are drawn to that authenticity. I’ve also been blessed to collaborate with collateral professionals that share similar values and trust me to serve their clients.
