We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shane Thunder a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Shane, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
When it comes to taking risks, I would say the deepest experience I’ve had with this occurred when I was 27 after my spiritual awakening. I had been a 9 month rebirthing process of the dark night of the soul (only that the dark night was a extensive 9 month journey), that led me into some of the deepest healing of my traumas, repressed memories, and whole bodied experience (mind, body, and soul). I was going through a pretty deep reshaping my reality process at that time, and when it came to a completion in Sept 2012, I was faced with a potent question of existential reflection.
What do I do with my life now after this rebirth? Do I follow the same path I was leading, or do something so ridiculously foreign to me, and pursue a life of true purpose?
We are often given few options in our lives of living a life of mediocrity. Our society has forged and conditioned us to pursue our path of careers, family, and material pursuits. Rather than encourage us to fully develop into the highest potential of human beings that we can become, society has conditioned us to be just another cog in the machine, to submit and subdue any real expression aside from the one that “fits in” to the collective.
This being understood at the time, I took it upon myself to lean into the unknown. To lean into the world of mystery and absolute uncertainty, with the trust and guidance that all would be taken cared of for me, that Spirit/universe would provide for me given all the tenants of what I was seeking to create.
So at the young age of 28, I pursued what felt like my calling, to share sound healing with world and give people the same opportunities that it provide for me in terms of healing my psyche, healing my energy body, uplifting my soul into its purest form, and disassociating from the story that had been told to me for all of my life. I pursued this intention and passion of mine, with the fervor of never giving up, of never looking back, and that the only thing on the horizon would be the ascendancy of my experience in this life.
To live a life of true intention, purpose, commitment, devotion, dedication, and above all else, to heal, would become the guiding compass of my life. And where it had taken me, to all corners of the world, to places and people I would have never thought I would meet, to expand the opportunities of success, I would have never imagined it would take me to where it has.
From becoming one of the most well-known sound healers in the world, to sharing it with celebrities, and traveling to places I would have never dreamed, the risks far outweighed the comfort of security.
And that above all else, was the greatest risk I’ve ever taken…
Shane, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My story begins as many stories of healers do, with deep trauma and the necessity to heal. I found myself at the age of 27 searching through life seeking answers for what was I suppose to be doing with my life. After having been in Los Angeles for 2 years trying to find those answers, I stumbled upon an experience that would forever change my life.
In Sept of 2011, I self-induced my own kundalini awakening without any prior knowledge of how to do it, by giving someone a psychic reading (which I also had no prior experience or knowledge of how to do). This would send me on a 9 month rebirthing process of healing my whole being (mind, body, and soul), which would eventually lead me to utilizing sound healing as a devotional tool of metacine & healing.
After healing from the awakening, I began to pursue sharing my sound healing experiences with the world with the intention of giving other people the same opportunity of healing it provided me.
And so began the long journey of bringing forth a desired intentional container to help others heal, align with their highest purpose, transmute their deepest traumas, and find a greater purpose in their experiences and service to the world and themselves.
It has led me to places all over the world, introduced me to people I would never imagine to meet, and would take me down long winding roads that I never anticipated.
From traveling the world, producing healing sanctuaries at festivals and events, to creating more containers for healing the masculine and feminine wound, I could have never imagined a more fulfilled life and purpose of what to share in this life experience!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The simplest answer to this question is, be completely and authentically who you are. My career and the success that came with it did not come from trying to be like anyone else. It wasn’t obtained through trying to dawn the white clothes, be a guru, or be something that people expected you to be in your experience.
The more that you can own your human-ness, the more connective you are to most people. Your community and demographic of people will further support your intentions and service to the world by you embracing everything you are, and being vulnerable about that place with them.
People who pretend, who try to “fake it til you make it”, will eventually be sussed out. Don’t make that mistake. Own who you are, your shadows, your light, and don’t pretend to be something you are not.
And don’t let anything allow you to fall into an ego trap. There are many things to be proud of, but humility, strength, perseverance, and the knowledge/wisdom that everything is a gift from God/universe, will always keep you humble.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Of all the books and people who have supported me through the journey I have traveled over the years….
