We recently connected with Shanda Brown and have shared our conversation below.
Shanda, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
I was blessed enough to have two parents that indulged in my dreams and hobbies that I chose to lean into to. Whether it was dance at the age of 2, saxophone at 4th grade, or competitive cheerleading in 9th grade, my parents encouraged me to see any passion through. This type of work ethic and tenacity is what has stuck with me through the years as an entrepreneur and as I even shift career paths.
When I decided I want to dance long term, I was placed in dance school. My parents made sure I had the proper support (teachers, uniforms, etc.) to thrive in that environment. Their focus was making sure I could focus on only what was required of me in whatever space I was in. I was able to be the child in training and I did not need to hold space as the parent with responsibility as well.
That structure allowed for me to find a flow in my discipline when it came to practicing on my own and studying whatever information or skill that was on the table at the time.
My parents giving me this type of freedom and has truly shaped my self discipline, my willingness to always evolve, and drive to see every single one of my dreams through.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
You can have as much training, knowledge, and even skill set in your field, but the strongest tool for success you can have in your pocket is your will and your passion for your service or product. There will always be a book to read, seminar to take, certificate to complete. Your passion and genuine interest in your field is what will buy you longevity. Your passion will drive your business output in such a way that you won’t be able but to be set a part from everyone else in the best ways possible. Passion is also something that is rarely taught. It is innate. It exists in your soul and spirit. You feel that difference when you are in your field doing something you care about.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I am a strong believer in word of mouth being one of the most powerful marketing tools that will forever stand the test of time, When people have an experience that has impacted and shifted their day, when their name is remembered by staff, and most importantly they begin to see the results they initially sought you out for, they have to tell EVERYONE fff
In our case one person would come to class and return the following class with a friend. From there that friend would tell another friend it would be a snowball affect.
