Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shana Rivers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Shana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump into the story of starting your own firm – what should we know?
I walked into real estate school with full confidence and announced, *“I’m here to get my broker’s license.”*
The person behind the desk gave me a puzzled look and asked, *“Are you even a licensed salesperson?”*
*“Nope,”* I responded, completely unfazed.
That’s when they hit me with the reality check—*“Well, you need to have your real estate license for at least three years before you can become a broker.”*
Lesson learned: I had the vision before I had the credentials. But that moment didn’t discourage me—it fueled me. I knew exactly where I was headed, and from that day forward, I knew eventually I would make it happen.
I knew, without a doubt, that leadership was in me. Managing, coaching, and guiding others—it was already a part of who I was.
After being in the industry for 7 years, I knew I wasn’t just in this business to sell homes—I was in it to build something bigger. So, I got to work. I earned my broker’s license, gained experience, and learned every part of the business inside and out.
Not long after, the firm I was with was sold, and I saw it as my moment to step up. Instead of seeing change as uncertainty, I saw it as opportunity. I wasn’t just eligible to become a brokerage owner—I was prepared to build something of my own.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Absolutely, happy to share!
I’m Shana Rivers, a wife, mother, and the proud owner of *The Atlanta Home Experts*, a real estate brokerage with a strong focus on providing exceptional service to both homebuyers and agents. My journey into real estate was a bit unconventional—after deciding to pursue my broker’s license early on (even before being a licensed salesperson), I knew I was meant to lead, coach, and build something that was more than just transactions. I wanted to create a space where agents could thrive and families could find their perfect homes.
My company provides a wide range of services including residential real estate sales, expert coaching for new and seasoned agents, and even co-working spaces through *Joy Spaces*, which I founded to provide a supportive environment for entrepreneurs and remote workers.
I focus on solving problems that make the real estate process smoother for clients—whether it’s navigating the challenges of buying or selling a home or helping agents build sustainable, successful careers. For my clients, it’s all about making their dreams a reality—whether that’s finding the perfect home or stepping into a career with the right support and guidance. For agents, I offer a hands-on, mentoring approach, ensuring they don’t just succeed but thrive.
What sets me apart? I’m not just running a brokerage; I’m building a community. I have a deep passion for mentoring and coaching, and I make sure that everyone who works with me gets the support they need to succeed, both professionally and personally. I believe in leading with authenticity, building relationships that go beyond business, and always showing up for my team and clients.
What I’m most proud of is seeing the success of the people I’ve mentored—watching agents grow into confident, thriving professionals and helping families find homes that truly fit their needs. It’s that human element that keeps me going.
For anyone considering working with me or following my journey, know that my work is rooted in a genuine desire to make a difference. I believe in hard work, faith, and treating people with respect. Whether you’re looking for your dream home or starting your real estate career, you’re not just a client or a number—you’re a partner, and I’m here to help you succeed.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
One thing that always sticks with people, no matter the industry, is how you made them feel. In these real estate streets, my name is my brand. I’m not a big corporate name, but my brand is built on integrity, kindness, and genuine care. I truly value my agents and clients, and I am always filled with gratitude when they chose to work with me.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Definitely referrals. This is by far one of the most powerful sources. People trust recommendations from those they know. My relationships with my past clients and friends have made word-of-mouth referrals a huge asset in my business. I also have leveraged platforms like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and even YouTube as a good source.
