We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shana. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shana below.
Alright, Shana thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think it takes a collection of things. But I’ll start by saying keeping God first and reminding yourself to keep going no matter what. Keep pursing your dreams, continue to improve your personal and self-development, and keep the faith even if it’s as small as a mustard seed. And even if you don’t believe in God (any deity), believe in yourself. I think it’s always great to sit down and think about where you are now and work on showing gratitude for that. Don’t overthink because overthinking will always leave you stagnant. And this might sound corny to some people but, being thankful for what you have and where you are in life right now, regardless of any trials and tribulations, is the key to open as many doors as possible. We all go through things, and I’m not here to say that some one’s life has been or is worse than someone else’s, all our experiences are valid. But take some time to Google or YouTube historical figures/very successful peoples, stories and you’ll see that a lot them went through many trials and tribulations and still came out on top. Remember why you want to be successful. Even if you must buy a poster and write the reasons why on it. Practice affirmations, give yourself positive self-talk, and persevere. And if you are a believer, pray on it and act. Because faith without works is dead. No, you’re not always going to be motivated to move forward, but again, just keep going. No matter what, keep going and that perseverance will get you to where you want to be. You’ll start accomplishing your goals and look up and realize that you are a success.

Shana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m the founder of Moreorlessvintage.com. An online vintage clothing store that sells authentic vintage fashion for women ranging from the 1950’s-early 90’s. Growing up I wanted to be an archaeologist, so I’ve always had a love for old things in general. But I didn’t get into selling vintage clothing until I saw a video by a very successful man named, Chris Gardner. If you’ve ever seen the film or read the book “The Pursuit of Happyness,” you probably know who I’m talking about. The book and film are basically about his life. But I follow him on social media, and I saw one of his post one day talking about following your dreams and really creating and living the life that you want. I believe I saw it at the right time because it inspired me to go ahead and put together a plan to start my own business. I knew I wanted it to be something that I really liked and was passionate about. So, I started with my own collection of vintage clothing and went from there. Also, when starting More or Less Vintage I also loved the fact that I would get the opportunity to share history with each of my customers, because vintage clothing is history.
Fast forward four years, and I can say that I’m very proud of where More or Less Vintage is and where it has taken me. Even with having to close the store twice in the pandemic just to take extra precaution. It has allowed me to do something I really love and that’s handpick authentic vintage clothing to share with the world and become an entrepreneur at the same time. And the fact that vintage fashion is ecofriendly, makes me love what I do even more. I’m beyond proud that I followed through and started More or Less Vintage, for the connections I’ve made, and for having some of the most amazing and supportive customers. I do believe staying true to what I do, always authentically connecting with my customers and offering quality pieces, will continue to set the store apart and continue us down the road of success.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Offering authentic and quality pieces that speak for themselves and consistently and authentically connecting with my customers.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Most of my customers originally came from social media but over the last year, word of mouth has been the best source. My customers love the pieces they purchase so much they recommend their friends and associates, and I am extremely thankful for that.
