Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shamira Graham. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Shamira , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
I often have a fun way to show my client appreciation. One of my most popular ways to to do is by having an Easter Egg Grab during the month of April. I write out different ways to save or win skincare products from my skincare line (Pink Honee Skincare) and inserts them inside of plastic eggs.. My clients are most excited about the golden egg which holds a FREE BRAZILIAN WAX (popular service). Each year it drives the incentive to have my clients give and for me to give back.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a licensed esthetician and CEO and founder of Pink Honee Waxing & Esthetics LLC. I provide a luxury skincare experience and skincare products to clients. I ventured into the beauty industry after enjoying skincare treatments and also experiencing not so great services. I thought there was something I could add to the industry to make services a more pleasant experience. My service specialties are brazilian waxes and relaxing facials. I removed unwanted body hair and help clear skincare issues. I also have created a bodycare line of products that use natural ingredients with many including an important ingredient…honey. Our name is derived from my love for the color pink and the benefits of honey in skincare and the play on words that honey is sticky and we provide waxing services. What separates our brand from the next the luxury skincare experience that can’t be duplicated when receiving services or products.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Building an audience on social media can be intimidating and frustrating to say the least. However, consistency is key. I organically grew my audience by using hashtags and posting in forum posts to garner the attention of my targeted audience. I posted daily and sometimes more than once daily. This was done in order to make sure my business was consistently on my targeted audience mind. I created content that stood out but was relatable. I provided educational content and engaged with potential clients.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
There was a time that I felt like giving up on my business within the first year of operation. I felt all odds were stacked against me as I opened during the season of a pandemic. My service-based business was not essential but also was a necessity for so many people. I initially started a home-suite business. I grew very quickly and had to find a office space/suite to operate business out of. That grew to become difficult without any history of business rentals. I was denied and passed over by a lot of rental agencies solely off not having an established business rental history. I was able to land renting a room in a salon but once I finally got comfortable I was told that the lease would be ending for the salon without renewal. Then again devastated, I had to find a space to operate business out of. I wanted to give up for sure but I had grown to love my clients and the peaceful space I created. I continued on my journey to find a new space and I was lucky enough to get into a salon suite and have a solo experience for my business.
