We were lucky to catch up with Shameka Green recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shameka, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
A mother is resilient and loving. Her strength is unmatched. She’s strong even when the world doesn’t see her. My mom is and always will be a very strong woman. I’m sure she didn’t select this role, but she took it on with honor.
My mother definitely taught me how to achieve goals. She’s by far the smartest woman that I know. I’m living out my dreams because she was strong enough to survive through adversities.
I would like to honor her today. My mother is a fighter.
Shameka, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am BEAUTY FROM ASHES! I am the woman, therapist, and friend behind every woman, ushering her to live out her dreams.
My brand is Beauty From Ashes Media. I write books that rewrite stories. My words are encouragement to the wounded. My personal story is a guide for all woman. My pain started a a young girl that experienced a father and stepfather being murdered. As a teen, I was raped and sexually assaulted. Life seemed really bleak at one point. Imagine surviving through all that pain to end up as an adult in a domestic violence relationship. My story has many pockets of tragedy followed up by an enormous amount of strength. When devastation happens, we forget to believe again. It takes away our hope. I want women to hear my story and know they can believe again.
I know what a healthy relationship looks like now. I’ve been featured on countless podcasts and television shows to discuss my triumphant journey.
I want woman to know they deserve ti know what joy after trauma feels like. Fight for what you really want!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn lack. When you don’t see enough love, money, or healthy relationships, you start to buy into the narrative of lack. I lack no good thing. All things have worked for my alignment. My mom gave me the blueprint. I designed and cultivated a new life. My twin girls will carry out my legacy. Trauma and disappointment didn’t stop me.
I have survived divorce, heartache, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and financial restarts. I will win!
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
I would live this life a million times over. I was destined to be a healer. I absolutely love being a therapist. I’m grateful that my gift extends beyond the office. I’m able to share my gift on TV, radio, and podcasts. I’m an International Best-Selling Author just by sharing my story. I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with licensure in Michigan, Colorado, and Nevada. My production company, Beauty From Ashes Media, will be my legacy as we highlight the journey of incredible women.
