We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shameah Andrea Frazier. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shameah below.
Shameah, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
My company is named after my grandmother, Valarie. She inspired and encouraged my femininity and beauty. I can still hear her voice, when I am getting ready or leaving the house say “Don’t leave the house without earrings…” I live by that. I miss her almost every day and I live by the affirmations she gave me as a child, When I think of any type of accessory I think of her, I think about how beautiful she was and how bright she made others’ lives. I hope to spread the same love and beauty to all of my clients.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Shameah Andrea, I am a new Jewelry designer, currently working out of Georgia. I was inspired by my grandmother Valerie C. Smith-Patterson. She was a beautiful light that could light up any room. She is a spirit that is forever missed. My grandmother believed in not leaving the house without your earrings. She believed in women being beautiful, feminine, and proud of who they were. That stuck with me and inspired me to create jewelry.
I wanted to create handcrafted jewelry that is unique and expresses the beauty of life that inspires me. I wanted to tell my creative story through my jewelry. Everything I create is uniquely made and there is a lot of time and patients put into it. I have learned to really take my time in creating something special for each client. No piece of jewelry looks alike, they are all uniquely made. I like to create earrings, rings, nose cuffs, and anything the client desires, I have been very open to exploring my creativity with custom design orders. The “Flower Child” earrings are my best seller, and always selling nose cuffs. New products are “Lotus” Earrings, ” Sanakfo” Earrings, 3 ring sets, and “Blk Girl” Earrings in many different colors. Wired Corset Belts will drop soon as well. Always creating and pumping out new products.
All of my products are on myshopify online store where orders can be placed and where you can place a customized order as well. This allows me to gain an audience from anywhere in the world and can place an order from anywhere. I make sure that each product is shipped and delivered with care. I do allow clients to reach out to me directly via email, phone, or social media for custom orders and regular orders.
I really enjoy custom orders, I get to really explore my creativity and challenge myself. My best friend placed an order with me for her birthday vacation. I was very excited to do this for her because I know my best friend is a showstopper. The challenge is to make sure what I create matches her. I was pressed for time because she needed them before the vacation and I was jumping through all hoops to make sure her order reached her on time. She loved everything! So this year that past I choose to gift her with Glasses. As a gift, I challenged myself and create my first pair of sunglasses out of gold wire and a pair of sunglasses lenses. It was challenging but, it only took me a few days to make the frames, and it took a week to wait for the frames to come in the mail. But in a week in a half time, I made her sunglasses. It was a very special gift for her and she did really love them. With her being my inspiration Customize Glasses are added to the online store.
I love creating, inspiring, and sharing my gift with others. I want my business to always stay true to who I am and what I believe. I hope to have more opportunities to show the world who I am and why I am. When you have a true passion for something nothing can get in your way. My passion is to share love and light and make every woman feel beautiful. Val’s Daughters will be a legacy no matter how small it may seem now.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of clients for me has been social media and word of mouth. At my day job, I make sure I spread the word to all my co-workers and then they tell their friends. Just in a short time, I got 3 clients by knowing 1 person. Also when I have tables at events selling products. Pop-up shops can gain you a lot of clients as well, but this requires additional investment. I also find collaboration with other business owners and artists helps me gain more business relationships and spread my brand.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Clients can sign up for the email list, where they can get updates on new products, gifts, and secret sales. they can sign up on the home page of the online store or before they check out. When I make a new product those clients will know before everyone else. There are also times when I send my clients games to win a free pair of earrings. I also keep in touch via phone, I will send out a text announcing game rules, or new products update. Clients enjoy the game because it is like they are in competition with themself to win earrings they want for free.
