We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shamar Houston a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Shamar, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I was in high school rehearsing for our chorus show. I was on stage and the lights hit me and It was like a magical moment in a movie. It was like it was just me and the stage and it was that moment I knew I would turn into someone really special and do big things.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the industry in 2014/2015. I was in college and left class because they were filming a movie where I graduated high school. Sharon Leal and Larenz tate we’re in the film. I asked sharon could i get in the movie and she told me who to talk to. It was my first time doing any acting and i was shown on camera 4 times. I’ve always been into music but really realized I was good after doing the so gone challenge and began diving a little deeper into it. As far as fashion design i was so bored with clothes in the store and thought if I could make my own clothes I would be so happy. I reached out to a friend of mine that just got started and he showed me the ropes and it went from there! I taught my self everything after that. I love seeing how happy and beautiful people feel in my garments its the best feeling in the world. I wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world. I want people to know just how talented and passionate i am. I am a hustler and i work hard at what i do. Im outgoing, adventurous, fun and have a heart of gold. I love fishing, hanging with friends, being outdoors and listening to music. I have two beautiful boys.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I want to obtain more celebrity clients. I want my name to be a household name and really perfect my craft. I want it to be my only job.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my social media by just authentically being myself and letting people see who I am. The good the bad and the ugly. I always hope that through my social media I can inspire and motivate others to follow their dreams!
