We recently connected with Shakyla Petty and have shared our conversation below.
Shakyla, appreciate you joining us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
The time I take to break things down for each and everyone of my clients is what makes me different within the industry I am in. I put hard work sweat and tears into my clients and not only do I focus on their businesses health but their mental health aswell. I allow them to express their ideas and goals but I stand firm on holding them accountable. I pray over my clients and their businesses day and night. That right there is what makes a huge difference!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the mentoring industry due to the lack of knowledge a lot of first time entrepreneurs have. I in fact started my very first business which was a boutique back in April of 2019. Those first few years were hectic, stressful, and confusing. I reached out for help many of times and in return I wouldn’t receive it or would only receive the bare minimum. This is what pushed me in the later part of 2021 to utilize my experience I’ve had from being a business owner myself to teach others. I offer a variety of services however the main focus of my business is to either help you start, grow, or legalize your business. I focus on helping you mentally as the head CEO, marketing on and off social media, legal aspects of business, content, target audience, and so much more! What sets me apart from many others in my industry is that I do not chase after the money. I truly want to see my clients win. I take the time that is necessary to help them evolve and prosper within the industry they are in. What I am most proud of is the feedback I receive from what I offer. Each and every client has always stated how my personality shows that I truly want to see them win. I am a very understanding person and to be so young filled with knowledge is something rare to come across.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What has helped me build my reputation is by being authentic. I chose to take this route because I feel it’s best to show my clients/ audience who I truly am. I never hide anything from them. I share the good and bad moments of business even while being a coach. I’ve learned that transparency is key so I believe by being who I am is what helped me build this strong foundation.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I took the time to build my audience organically! When I opened up my social media pages to becoming a mentor I chose to find my audience and not allow them to find me. I made a goal to put myself in front of 100 new faces daily. I shared reviews, FAQs, went live, shared daily content and so much more to connect with my audience in many different ways. Most importantly I was patient! The best advice I could give an upcoming business owner is to not worry about the numbers! Try building your stability and reputation first and by doing such you’ll notice your numbers will start to increase. However being your self is the best marketing strategy you could ever utilize when it comes to business.
