We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shakeyla Randall a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Shakeyla thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my children’s book was born from a deeply moving moment with my oldest child. After getting into trouble, he anxiously asked if God still loved him. The concern and look on his face sparked a heartfelt conversation between us. As he was learning to read, I searched for books that explained God’s love in a way he could understand but found none. Realizing there was a need, I decided to create one myself. What began as a personal project has since been published and is inspiring children worldwide. “How God Sees Us” reassures toddlers that God does not define them by their mistakes, with characters inspired by my three children. Partnering with schools in Nigeria from Houston has confirmed that this was a worthwhile endeavor.
Shakeyla, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Shakeyla Randall is the author of “How God Sees Us,” a touching children’s book inspired by her experiences as a mother of three. As someone new to the literary world, Shakeyla draws upon real-life moments with her children to craft stories that resonate with families everywhere. Her unique perspective as a parent set her apart, allowing her to create relatable and heartfelt narratives that address profound questions with warmth and understanding. Shakeyla’s debut work is driven by a passion to fill the gap in children’s literature with messages of love and forgiveness, aiming to reassure young readers of their inherent worth. Her journey from concept to publication is a testament to her dedication to inspire and uplift children across the globe. With so many more books on the way to help our babies.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing the clientele for “How God Sees Us” has been leveraging partnerships and collaborations. By connecting with schools and educational institutions, particularly in Nigeria, the book has gained visibility and credibility. Word-of-mouth recommendations from parents and educators have also played a crucial role. Additionally, utilizing social media platforms to share personal stories and engaging with a community of parents has helped build a loyal and expanding readership.
Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
To diversify my revenue streams, I am expanding into new ventures, including designing toddler Christian apparel and writing additional children’s books. These efforts aim to complement the themes of “How God Sees Us.” Additionally, I am partnering with local businesses to feature my products in stores, enhancing visibility and accessibility. These strategic steps not only broaden my market reach but also create cohesive brand experiences that resonate with families seeking meaningful, faith-based content.
