We recently connected with Shakeria Coffield and have shared our conversation below.
Shakeria, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful you can’t be afraid to fail. Failure can be one of the biggest lessons to gain or create success. You need be determined to get the job done and accomplish your goals. You have to find motivation to be able to push through those difficult times. Lastly building some form of consistency being able to get everyday and do it all over again , sometimes better than the last but, you still keep going everyday , till you get where you want to be.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I do see Shakeria’s Studio expanding in the beauty industry, offering more than just getting your hair done.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Funding your pen business isn’t always easy, but it can be accomplished. One of the main challenges you will need to embrace is budgeting. Budgeting is important , sitting down coming up with a way to be able to pour into your business. Something I learned to do was being able to create a budget sheet. Writing down all of your expenses and how much you’re bringing in to be able to see how much you have to put into your business. Once you have that figured out you can now see what you need far as equipment and materials to be able to create the aesthetic for your business. Being someone who had to work with her own money, I had to price my services, especially when you don’t have a 9 to 5 job. Starting small with your pricing isn’t always a bad thing because you have to start somewhere and you can always grow your pricing as your talent gets stronger. Having that budget sheet with take you half way once you have the basics on you budget sheet you can then add the necessities it takes to sustain your business.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The most rewarding part that comes from me showing my creativity, is that I leave a person feeling some type of emotion. I am able to inform people with the knowledge that I have to be able to with them on their journey. Teaching my audience and seeing them try something new on their own and save a coin . Even seeing kids who are staring off where I was, I am able to help to strengthen their skills. I am able to build a connection with my audience by showcasing my work and personality. What also pushes me to create or be creative is knowing there is no wrong way other than my way. There are many things that are rewarding when it comes to finally getting the world to notice you and what you bring to the table. Being able to inspire my audience overall is what pushes me to create and be creative. Creating content and just trying to advertise can be hard sometime. You never really just know if this or that will really do what you’re aspecting it to do. But as long as you are doing it because it love your craft , and just enjoy having world see it is a great way to push you far as being creative and doing it for you or your business.
