We recently connected with Shae Jones and have shared our conversation below.

Shae, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?

My love for beauty came to me as naturally as breathing. I remember as a kid making dresses out of my mother’s spare window curtains and taking dress up a little more seriously than most. I taught myself how to construct garments from scratch without any professional training. It didn’t take much to convince my mother to allow me to audition for the School for Creative and Performing Arts. I was accepted into the costume technical theater department where we covered costume design, hair and makeup. After years of hard work and promotions from Crew Lead, to Crew Chief, to the highest position offered in our department, Wardrobe Supervisor, a role second to only the department head, quickly turned what once felt like a hobby, into a career passion.

Shae, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Being glamorous was never about what I had, but what I made of what I had. My unique ability to pull beauty out of anything is at the core of everything I do. I am presently a makeup artist, but I truly believe glam doesn’t stop at makeup, however can be brought out in everything. In my youth, I determined that being glamorous was my ability to shine confidently in my individuality regardless of what anyone thought. It then became my mission to encourage not just my clients, but anyone I come across, to share in that same value.

Before I finish something I always ask myself, “How can I glam this up? How can I add a ‘WOW’ factor to this?”. Any opportunity to be BOLD, CREATIVE or THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX, lights a fire in me like nothing else could. That’s the feeling of passion. When you’re passionate like that about something, you specialize in it. Therefore I became “The Glam Specialist!”.

Possessing the ability, through my craft, to inspire one to embrace their innermost beauty and confidence is what sets me aside from others in my field. My unwavering determination to share that passion with the world has aligned me with opportunities to work closely with some of the biggest celebrities, musicians, and influencers in the industry. I apply that same level of determination when customizing a lasting, unique, and high quality experience for each of my clients, for lasting experiences can result in a lasting impact on the world.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect about being an artist, is having the ability to impact the world through creative expression. As a visualizer, I see things, people and even the world itself, as inspirational beings; which provides me the opportunity to do my part in making the world a better place for everyone.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

In addition to being a makeup artist I am a content creator! I love inspiring others to express themselves and their uniqueness with the world in creative ways! This wasn’t always an easy task. It took years of trial and error. Even today, some content does better than others. What I’ve come to learn is that consistency was what aided me the most during my journey. Even if I only have 2 supporters, I’ll always post. When people see an artist remaining consistent and confident regardless of whose watching, that power in itself is encouraging enough to persuade more and more people to support. Finding my niche and creating content on what I love the most was also key because it made being consistent that much easier. Viewers engage the most with authenticity. I found that being yourself, unique and relatable was a huge turning point for my online presence. Ultimately, if you discover what it is that you’re truly passionate about and find all the unique ways it is incorporated in your life and remain consistent with it, in due time you’ll achieve the results you desire!
