We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shadea Murphy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Shadea, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?

Success can vary depending on the individual. As the owner of Spiked Delights my idea of success has everything to do with what is going on internally rather than the things you have externally. Success is finding peace on those days when you booked 0 events because you know one day you will have so many events you’ll need a whole corporation to service them. Success is not sleeping for days, running from state to state & still going with tears in your eyes because you KNOW that it’s going to pay off! You will find TRUE SUCCESS in the actual journey rather than the destination & that’s when you will be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor wholeheartedly.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Spiked Delights is a luxury mobile bartending company that services events such as weddings, festivals, concerts, private events, vacations, corporate events and many more! Originally based out of New Jersey we have now officially took the east coast by storm. We offer services such as private bartending, cocktail tastings, bottle girl service and even customized bottles! With our wide range of services and dedicated employees, this definitely set us apart. Once we expanded into events in the music industry through Empire Records. We knew had a passion for servicing celebrity clients. We have done events for some huge names & was also featured in Essence Magazine! To know that not even three years ago I was at the lowest I’ve ever been in life & with some hard work, resilience and a passion for my craft I built a thriving business that has now expanded is a dream come true! Although this happened pretty quick, I was no stranger to challenges that were presented. Being a young, black, single mother is already hard in America not to mention starting a business from scratch. Without the proper knowledge or funding, I had to get on my grind and research things for myself. Most learning came from trial and error but no challenge was big enough to stand in my way. Spiked Delights is more than just a bartending business but also serves as an inspiration to never give up NO MATTER WHAT!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

Although I am not proud of my past , I would not be where I am without the trials & tribulations that I’ve had to overcome. I was incarcerated when I scribbled my business plan on a small piece of note book paper. I was released 5/15/2020 & a week later officially started my drink business in which molded into a mobile bartending service over the next few weeks. Although I could’ve never imagined the places bartending would take me , even in jail I knew that I was going to make it and this was going to be the way no matter what it takes. The journey was far from easy but I never once wanted to quit , I was doing this for my kids and i future and I knew I couldn’t screw up. That fire hasn’t stopped burning in me and still continues to push me to unimaginable heights!

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I would definitely say our consistency, our ability to be vulnerable, the attention that we put into detail & our customer service just to name a few.
