We recently connected with Shabrina Payne and have shared our conversation below.
Shabrina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
When I created The Care Package, my hope was to nourish more than just the body. I wanted to help people feel seen, supported, and loved—especially during life’s most difficult moments. Recently, I was reminded of exactly why I started this journey.
A recipient of The Care Package had just lost his mother, who he described as his best friend. Grief had left him numb, and he hadn’t eaten in days. After spending the day at the funeral home making arrangements, he returned home to something unexpected: a care package waiting on his doorstep.
What moved him most wasn’t just the meal—it was the intentionality behind it. The warmth of the packaging and, most of all, the personalized note touched him deeply. In that moment, he didn’t feel alone. He felt cared for. His wife later shared that he ate for the first time that day, and he framed the note as a reminder of that moment of love and support.
For me, that is success.
Yes, he enjoyed the meal—but what truly mattered was the connection. A bridge was built between the sender and recipient. A simple gesture became a lasting memory. That’s what The Care Package is all about: nourishing the soul, strengthening bonds, and reminding people they are not alone.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve always loved cooking. For over 15 years, I’ve catered on and off, starting my first company, Live to Love Catering, in 2010. In 2019, I launched Callum’s Table, inspired by a family name and the roots of where my passion for food began. Then, during the pandemic in 2022, my husband and I started Turkey Hen & Fin, a food truck serving delicious smoked turkey legs and bowls to our local community.
Alongside all of that, I earned a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and continued my full-time career in Commercial Insurance Underwriting. I know—it sounds like a lot! But the common thread through every chapter of my life has been a heart for serving others.
That’s what led to The Care Package. It’s truly a dream come true because it combines my love for cooking with my God-given purpose to uplift, comfort, and care for people. It’s not just a product—it’s my heart in a box. In many ways, it brings Live to Love full circle.
The Care Package solves the problem of time—for both the sender and the recipient. Whether someone is celebrating a new baby, recovering from surgery, grieving a loss, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life, the care package is the perfect way to say, “I see you. I care.”
Each order is easy to place through our website and comes with a personalized note tailored to the occasion. What makes it special is the intention behind every detail: the homemade lasagna layered with love, fresh-baked bread and cookies, the savory herb dipping sauce, and the packaging designed to make the recipient feel thought of and valued. Every time, the response is the same—a smile, a deep sense of connection, and often, a heartfelt thank you.
What sets The Care Package apart is that it’s more than just a meal—it’s an invitation to share your heart and spread kindness. I want people to know that when they send one, they’re helping create a meaningful moment that won’t be forgotten.
That’s what I’m most proud of—building something that not only nourishes the body but lifts the spirit.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of the clearest examples of resilience in my journey has been launching The Care Package. It’s a new business, and every day is a learning experience. My dream is to one day ship these meals of love all across the U.S.—to let someone in California or Chicago feel the same care and warmth that someone in Georgia experiences today. But right now, we’re still growing, and our reach is limited to Georgia.
I’ll never forget my first attempt to ship out of state. I was excited and full of hope… and it failed. The packaging didn’t hold, and it didn’t arrive the way I had intended. It was disappointing, yes—but it wasn’t the end. I didn’t let that one moment stop me. Instead, I took notes, regrouped, and started learning everything I could about safe, successful shipping.
Truthfully, putting yourself and your product out into the world is terrifying. Not just because of the fear of failure—but sometimes even the fear of success. You wrestle with thoughts like, “What if it doesn’t work?” or “What if people don’t get it?” or even “What if this grows bigger than I’m ready for?” We live in a world that often critiques faster than it uplifts, and that can be hard to face.
But I’m here. I’m doing it scared. I’m pushing through what I’ve come to recognize as the biggest obstacle: my own thoughts. I choose to keep showing up, to keep learning, and to keep moving forward.
To me, that’s what resilience looks like—not perfection, but persistence. It’s believing in the dream enough to keep going, even when the road is uncertain. And every time someone smiles after receiving a Care Package, I’m reminded that it’s worth it.

Any advice for managing a team?
Be authentic and transparent. When you lead with honesty and integrity, you set the tone for a culture where trust can thrive. Celebrate both the big and small wins, and don’t shy away from the mistakes—use them as learning moments. Growth doesn’t come from perfection; it comes from reflection and resilience.
Create a safe space where people feel comfortable showing up as their full selves. When individuals know they are seen, heard, and valued, they’re more likely to engage deeply with their work and the team around them.
Don’t be afraid to give tough love. Honest, constructive feedback is essential—not just for professional development, but for personal growth as well. It’s not about criticism; it’s about care and the belief that someone can rise higher.
At the end of the day, the success of any business is determined by the strength of its team. Every person matters. The more valued your team feels, the more resilient and committed they will be when navigating the inevitable highs and lows of business. Leadership is about lifting others—because when your people thrive, your business will too.
