We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shaakira Molisho. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shaakira below.
Shaakira , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I’ve been fortunate enough to earn a full-time loving from my creative work for two years now. This all happened by accident. I’ve always created content for brands and photographed clients on the side for many years. When I was pregnant with my daughter in the middle of the pandemic, I had to make the decision to go back into a toxic work environment or take a chance on myself and pursue entrepreneurship. I landed my first high paying brand deal 1 week postpartum and knew right then and there that the sky wasn’t the limit. The major steps I made to get to this position was developing my craft and knowing in my heart that the content I created would connect with my audience, be authentic to myself and be worth the price tag I was requesting from brands. I started with an iPhone and soon invested in a top of the line camera to enhance my technical capabilities and produce high quality content. Investing in myself was a major turning point in my career. Diving into mentorship, collaborating with other creators and taking the time to learn new skills have definitely catapulted into a position to live a life a love on my own terms. The only thing that could have sped up my process in my opinion would to have been consistent even in the midst of doubt and uncertainty. Not knowing what to do or how to do something can leave many of us stagnant and not executing.

Shaakira , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a lifestyle content creator and social media strategist. I create digital products geared to help aspiring and established content creators land brand deals no matter the following size.
My products help creators find their voice, create attention grabbing content and put them in positions to work with their dream brands.
What sets me apart from others is that I’ve been in a position to consistently hit 5 figure months as a content creator with less than 10,000 followers on each platform. My strategies and tips are tried and true. I was able to enter this industry by showing up as myself and expressing my personality and life through images and videos.
I’m most proud of the impact my story and the products I’ve created have either inspired or helped others on their content creator journey. I want people to know that you can start with what you have and become your own success story. All you need is will, determination and a plan to make your dreams come into fruition.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a content creator is that I’m able to build a business centered around the actual life that I live. I get to spend time with my family, put them first all while chasing my wildest dreams.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn is that you needed to replicate the success stories in your industry. That’s no true. There’s power in being you and your uniqueness. You have to stand on that in order to thrive in business.
