We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sha Quintana a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Well, I am BIG on inspirational quotes! When I realized many people in my life were rooting for me, I turned inward. I just felt there was more to life than whatever was going on in my current situation. I started googling inspirational quotes, and most importantly keeping my mindset on the positive. I made a quote wall, in my parents home. When I woke up every morning I saw them first. One day I said to myself, maybe I will tattoo a bunch of quotes all over my body lol. But that wasn’t the answer. So, I decided I am going to get my llc and become my own boss and hopefully no one will have to go through experiences and trauma I have. I was ready to change the world one SMILE AT A TIME! And Inspire Attire was born. Since then I had a lot of growing to do but I planted that seed.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Okay. We got into the industry, like Nike states ‘Just Do It’. I took a leap of faith. It has been in me since I was born. I learned how to unlock my spark. Inspire Attire is in the beginning stages and even though right now we just offer apparel. My husband, Isaac, I nicknamed him Acronym King because the way this man can write an acronym poem is very unique. He is pure talent. Sometimes it pains me he has never pursued this more to the public. Soon, we will expand our services. We have 2 children’s books we just published. They are acronym poetry books dedicated to our son. He just turned 18 months. He means the world to us and hopefully one day we pass on Inspire Attire to him as many other things.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I say what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger. My mother passed away end of 2020. My world was turned upside down one more time but this time I was about 3-4 months pregnant. I never got to tell her I was having her first grand baby or that I was dating a great guy finally!! And side note: My dad passed away when I was 10. My mom was my best friend and all we talked about was the day I make her a grandma. So, after backlash from distant family members after her passing and the person I was that day I wasn’t the day before. I did my best to really not fuel my first born with negative energy. I mourned after I gave birth because I knew my mother wanted me to have this baby regardless of the circumstances. And with that, I learned how to love myself more properly than before. And that baby is the best thing that happened to us. I have been transforming all this time so to really dig deep into the depths of my soul out of love and all the creativity overflowing abundantly it was a beautiful thing. Plus, raising this little boy with no family but the 3 of us, I AM TIRED BUT WE ARE BLESSED .
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
We met through a mutual friend at the time. His first poem we wrote for me was “A WOMAN DESERVES”. I saw his greatness and how much potential he has to change the world with his. I never met any one else like that. And he inspired and motivated me to rhyme too. I mainly was a visual type artist and recorded funny videos just being myself. He definitely helped me focus on different aspects of writing than I was accustomed too.
