We recently connected with Sevy! and have shared our conversation below.
SEVY!, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
Being an artist and perusing a career in music sounds fun when you hear all the cool rock n’ roll stories from back in the day. Traveling from city to city, hanging out with your best friends, playing music for people.. but you very rarely hear about the comparisons to normal life. I’ve been trying to build my career for the past 6-7 years, in that time I’ve watched my best friends get married, buy houses, start families, buy cars, and just seemingly get ahead in life while I struggle financially, own nothing but a van and a few guitars, and live 700 miles away from my loved ones. When I go through low times in my career, or I’m not writing as much or I don’t have a gig on a weekend, my mind tends to wander about what my life would be like if I chose to finish college, get a job, and be “normal”. Sometimes I crave it. But then, I’ll write a song, or I’ll play a show where someone FEELS the lyrics I’ve written, or I’ll get more than 10,000 streams on a song, and it reminds me that, this is what I was meant to do, this is what, I believe, God put me on this earth to do.

SEVY!, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well, my name is SEVY! and I’m an artist and Songwriter in Nashville, TN. I got started in music thanks to my parents who were both musicians. I grew up watching them perform and eventually joined their band in my early teens.
I eventually broke off and started playing music on my own and started my own bands. I found a love of writing songs and followed that love to Nashville.
I started working with an Artist Development Label called OEG (Owens Entertainment Group) and they have truly supported me from the beginning.
We are starting to develop a new sound, mixing Pop and Rock N Roll with the intricacies and simplicity of country music’s story telling. Thanks to my producers Brian Bunn and Tyler Woodward, we are chipping away at perfecting that sound every Day!
We are releasing new music monthly!

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I first moved to Nashville I was making music for others. I thought the sound that everyone else was chasing, was what people wanted to hear from me. But, I never truly felt inspired or fulfilled.
Then my longtime friend/A&R/and now producer, Tyler Woodward, begged me and supported me, chasing what I was feeling in my heart of where my sound should go.
I had to pivot, start a new Spotify account, restart on TikTok, and change all of my social media and way of thinking.
I got to experience this transition of sound because I’ve been surrounded by people like Tyler and the folks at OEG who love, support, and challenge me daily.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Love the people you are with. Support them as they support you. Stay loyal. Always give back. And never forget the people who stood by your side when you were nobody.
