We recently connected with Seven Nance and have shared our conversation below.
Seven, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I First knew around middle school my teacher Ms.Hope always told me I was great at stories writing prompts descriptiveness and creative language getting a perfect score on my writing for our Florida testing. Followed By my cousin Kayla Moore Having a label Po Folks Production where my peers Clvssic & Macknificent was artists, being around them in the in house studio and passing out cds promoting in parades I knew exactly this was what I wanted to do knowing I can use my words to share my life experiences to help those who think like me.
Seven, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am 7’1 Spitta Seven Artist Entertainer script writer & clothing line business owner how I got into the music world I discussed in the first question after going out on my own with my brother Louis Hicks & uncle Elliott Aiken III starting a music label & Film Company owned by creators giving us and others the ability to control there thoughts and narratives without a big suit saying what’s appropriate or not just peoples artistic truths. We host a multitude of products from our clothing lines & record label Hbam Universe (hustle by all means) Da Krazies Production for our sitcoms and films giving voices and motivation to the small voices that the big people choose not to hear. Disciple is one of our biggest attributes and strengths our whole niche is base off hustling by all means through the long nights, life issues and unforeseen problems that arrive and come up, for us there is no company to pay us for being average really living the you get in it what you put out philosophy.
Consistency is also a major attribute in the entertainment industries because when you slack the world doesn’t stop spinning so you must push through and have mental fortitude to continue to push your brand because consumers and fans see the results not what went wrong.
All these industries we are apart of have a weblike connection music is one of the biggest influences in our mordern world use by brands & advertisers alike, you have to wear clothes to your shows need background music for sitcoms, movies and also soundtracks which we provide with a flare of being apart of the people and not to far removed to understand there mindset.
What sets us apart from others is our work ethic authenticity and flavor giving harsh truth of realities through our merchandise music and films showing sharing the un popular opinion and stories.
One of my most iconic moments is having our home station 103.5 put me on there station and having the opportunity to talk and communicate with C-Murder a pioneer of music and the first cd I ever bought even incarcerated keeping his high spirit free him until he is free. Things I want potential followers and fans to know is I’ll always work hard with my team never getting the big head supplying you with great content and energy as long as I’m in the industry
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
The nature of the business most non creative have a business or job security. As far as us we have to work around the clock to ensure our business runs sometimes that looks like a fun trip club night or studio fun on the flip side sometimes it look likes sleepless nights getting portfolios ready business meetings back to back manufacturers problems and unexpected results for campaigns with no reassurance of deals going through only the faith of your ability and energy to sale a client or potential fan.
Choosing to go out on your own has great risk but also has know ceiling to your growth, worth and profit margin.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
This particular story resonates with me because of the trails and tribulations of it but the great finish. We had an out of town scheduled podcast with InDaPartments with Parlae big salute to him and his mentality illness platform for the community. Now the story on the day of travel the rental company wouldn’t allow our rental because one of our team members birthdays had pass so wouldn’t allow rental.
So getting on the road in car we knew had the potential of breaking down and only have the funds to cover the trip and one star hotel.
Actually being able to make it to the interview getting 3 videos done as well as the podcast and new brand ambassadors for merch going on a wing and a faith and barely making it back home resulted in great content interview and help bring in more funds for the company.
