We recently connected with Sevauge and have shared our conversation below.
Sevauge, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
Great question.
Personally I believe my legacy will be one of hard work, diligence and high level content. The age we live in is so fast paced so a major part of my mentality outside of my creative process is capitalizing on the moment. Beyond great music the world can enjoy until the end of time my legacy will be the lives I shape, the minds I positively impact. My daughter will be 4 this year, so on a separate level I need to create generational wealth for her and anyone else after and during. I haven’t really even began yet

Sevauge, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
This is always so hard for me to just jump into hahah. I’m a rapper, singer, song writer, engineer, producer, my own manager, label owner. My mother was a singer, my grand father played and probably still plays base in a jazz trio in Iowa where I’m from. I’ve been raised to be a musician and entertainer at some level, my father always said he just raised me to be a leader. I started rapping when I was 11 really, my cousin recorded a video of rapping a few bars on the “pop champagne” beat if anyone remembers that. I’ve been recording seriously and dropping consistently for almost 4 years now so it’s crazy how things work and come full circle. A huge part of my creative process is introspection, truth telling and being an open as I can in my songs. As a rapper my influences are r&b singer and pop stars so I recognized early on I was more into song writing and lyrics more so than anything else, when I rap I care the most about my cadence and the context I’ve given to the record I’m working on. I have to rap with purpose if that makes sense, I think too much about what I’m bringing to life in my songs if that makes sense.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
In my “genre” my name has been solely built on my work ethic, consistency and beyond my talent I would have to say integrity hahaha.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I first moved to Los Angeles I was selling CDs in 2021 so it’s not not like I was doing when a CD was the main way of hearing music. I had to sleep in an RV on the side of the road in Gardena. My Rv had no electricity or running water so I had to walk a few blocks to see a bathroom and go a few blocks opposite direction to make my CDs. My laptop needed to be repaired at this time so I couldn’t record unless I paid for it so I really slowed down for a few months. I grinded and ended up moving in a spot in north Hollywood with a friend I happened upon. It was June to October I spent in the RV being tested by life. Anything is possible, when you’ve made it so far already going back is useless when you think about it.
