We were lucky to catch up with Seton Edgerton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Seton thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk I’ve taken is putting my life on hold for a couple months and committing to a promise I made to one of my best friends while he was in the hospital. He was recovering from his second open heart surgery in one year and had just received a heart transplant at UCSD. He is an avid cyclist and set out to bike across the country for the second time to raise awareness for organ donation. This time the journey would begin at the hospital he received the heart transplant in San Diego to Jacksonville, Florida where the donor was laid to rest at Jacksonville National Cemetery. I hadn’t really spent much time on a bike other than casual rides around the neighborhood here and there. But I was given the opportunity to make good on my promise with my friend and his brother only a year or so after the transplant. I was led daily by his courage and his stubborn optimism of making a goal and seeing it through to the end. Lots of flat tires, endless highways, thousands of miles and hours everyday spent thinking and being grateful for how incredible and fragile life can be.

Seton, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Well Well Well is a constantly evolving collection of ideas and stories composed through music searching for that last bit of music that hasn’t been heard yet. Starting with multi-instrumentalist guru Dan Nichols and myself, we work on the basics of building songs at home, rent an airbnb in a nearby inspirational vortex and then collaborate with artists we look up to and that we enjoy listening to. We have collaborated with Gardens & Villa in their now defunct warehouse studio in Frog-town, Los Angeles & The Mattson 2 in their woodsy cabin nestled into the seaside cliffs of San Diego. Easy listening for uneasy people. We want people to lose themselves in the music and tell a good story while we’re at it, either fictional or real.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The main goal for Well Well Well is to see what our minds are capable of. First on our own, then with our band, then with others. Creating something out of nothing is why all creatives are here, some people can inspire this process and others can manipulate it for their own purpose. The goal would be to maintain the drivers seat on the creative journey as long as possible.
