We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Seth Weiner a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Seth, appreciate you joining us today. Can you share a customer success story with us?

Planner Parenthood Southeast reached out to us to help them with their annual Gala. This year was an important one for them as they are facing battles on all ends. They never before did a Fund-A-Need (paddle raise) and never had a professional auctioneer at their events. We were able to lead them to success, raising over $50,000 in their Fund-A-Need and $30,000 in Live Auction. We were told that the consultation’s we provided helped them keep organized and have their most successful event yet.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Seth Weiner does it all from being an auctioneer to an entertainer, emcee, and host of the podcasts Coffee Connections as well as Inside Out w/ Turner and Seth. Seth’s humor and vibrant nature makes him one of the most enjoyable auctioneers to witness. A proud member of the National Auctioneer Association, he is also a designated Benefit Auctioneer Specialist, one of only 234 in the nation!

With his background in entertainment, plenty of screen time, and over 20 years in the music industry, Seth knows how to read a crowd and adapt his personality and style to engage your audience. Through working with artist-hosted events such as the Avett Brothers, Zac Brown Band, My Morning Jacket, Wilco, and Brandi Carlile, Seth naturally ties professionalism with creativity. With his experience as an owner and CEO of several music businesses, Seth knows what it’s like to run a company and how to work with you to help your organization reach beyond its financial goals. He currently serves as a board member of Positive Legacy and volunteers with several other non-profit organizations.

Seth co-hosts the music-based podcast Inside Out w/Turner and Seth, which totals over 200,000 downloads from music enthusiasts. Most notably are his podcasts featuring exclusive interviews with members of top touring bands including Phish, Widespread Panic, Karl Denson, The Dave Matthews Band and Umphrey’s McGee, just to name a few.

Seth began his career 20 years ago when he started hosting music festival game shows in front of a live audience, and since has grown to Emcee and Host a variety of yearly events around the world.

Throughout his career he has Emceed a plethora of event types, from chartered cruises such as NurseCon at Sea (the ultimate Nurse Conference) to Bar Mitzvahs, officiating weddings and much more. Through his experience in putting on game shows at music festivals and events, he comes with a long list of creative ideas to get the party going and loosen the vibe, for any age group.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

When it comes to the auction/fundraising business, my reputation has been built on word of mouth. My past clients speak very highly of the work we do. That’s the best one can ask for.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

My business pivoted in 2019 from the music business where I was owning and operating a company that staffed music festivals the likes of Bonnaroo, Coachella, Electric Forest, etc. and a volunteer management software called festiVOL. I decided it was time to make a change in my life and sold my music business so to devote my time in being Your Rocktioneer® and doing fundraising auctions. This was in 2019, and in the Spring of 2020 I was 100% in and had my sole income coming in as a Benefit Auctioneer. THEN CAME COVID and I was at a loss (and wasn’t alone). I quickly pivoted to doing online auctions and events where I could and started my podcast Coffee Connections. The idea here was to use this bonus time to network and create relationships. During this time I interviewed over 50 NPOs in the Atlanta area, helping to build relationships and my brand.
