We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Seth Lunsford. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Seth below.
Hi Seth, thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
Precious was a natural evolution of my personal freelance design practice. I realized that a lot of clients I was working with were looking to their competitors and people around them for where they should take their business rather than focusing on what makes them unique and different. Precious came from the idea that each person is valuable and their unique experiences, perspective and offerings are what will make them stand out in their industry and connect with customers on a deeper level.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Precious is a studio that specializes in brand identity, design and web development. We believe everyone is valuable and has their own unique story to tell.
There is no other brand just like yours, and there shouldn’t be. Instead of following trends or favoring form over function, we look at you—really look at you. Who are you, what makes you different? Once we know that, and see why that is special, we help you show up in the market in a way that captures just how valuable you truly are.
We specialize in art direction, brand identity and design, but also have a vetted network of creatives that we collaborate with on a regular basis across a variety of industries.
Precious is a studio built on collaboration. We’re always looking to work with creatives of all types, both remote and in our office.
We offer desk rentals for both remote and self-employed creatives in Des Moines, Iowa’s historic Market District. Limited availability for part-time and full-time spots. Reach out for availability.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I’m always looking to empower people to look inside and find what really sparks joy in their life and find a way that they can explore that as they start to build their business or services. Life is too short to work on things you hate or to not share your personal story and gifts with the people you encounter. Interesting work, products, services come with an engaging story and personal, human touch.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I’m constantly reaching out to people I admire or would like to work with. With the internet now it’s so easy to connect with people across the world and it’s never been easier to communicate with people that 20 years ago you never would have met. I also believe that if you’re a chill, cool person word of mouth goes a long way. Treat people well and look how you can help others and the work will come to you.
