We were lucky to catch up with Seth Holland recently and have shared our conversation below.
Seth , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The story behind my mission starts with growing up in a family where a self-owned business was key. Growing up with a father who owns a small business Advanced Pipe Repair, has been a blessing in many ways. The first way this has impacted my life in a positive way is by learning the basics of running your own business. Some of the things I have learned from my Dad in the business industry are very important and without such information, I do not think I would be where I am today. Let’s dive a little deeper into how I started to become an entrepreneur at a young age. The year was 2017 I was in seventh grade and I was homeschooled during that time, therefore I had more time than others when finishing my school work. As a young boy, the most common thing to do at the time was to play video games with my buddies, and I did just that for a while. Until one evening when I was wanting to buy the newest pair of Jordans at the time but did not have the amount of money in my account. That night I began to research what it would cost to start my own small business creating custom apparel. The next step was getting together five hundred dollars as a thirteen-year-old boy, this was not easy. The first thing I ended up selling was my prize possession the PlayStation four. A couple of weeks later I had just enough money to buy the equipment needed and began my adventure of creating custom apparel.

Seth , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello, there everyone my name is Seth Holland, and I am an 18-year-old entrepreneur from Rockwall, Texas. I became an entrepreneur at the age of thirteen creating custom apparel for all sorts of events and individuals. I am the owner of SWH Designz a small business offering a wide variety of services including, custom apparel, graphic design help, social media management, and website development. In the past year, I have worked with a wide variety of clients such as musicians, mechanics, and more. The work that I am most proud of has to be the work I have been able to do with Ryder Grimes, I met Ryder in 2021 through some other people at the time, and later on, in the year he invited me out to a concert in Union Valley, Texas at Sweetwater Grill. Driving out to the show I did not think anything of it just a normal night going to support my friend, what I didn’t know is it was the start of something huge. That night my creative mind started a new flame and this time it was designing merchandise for an upcoming country musician. A couple of months go by and now I am working on building a website for Ryder. Weeks and weeks go by and more merchandise was printed, I still remember to this day the phone call when I placed our first order of shirts and Ryder told me “This is a lot of money are you sure we are going to sell them?” I responded with they will be sold out in the first week and one week later he calls and says we need more shirts. The most valuable thing in business no matter what level you are on is connections, and what I didn’t realize at the time is the connections that were being made. A couple of months go by and I get a message from one of Ryder’s good friends Hunter Pierrotti of the Mike Ryan Band regarding a website that he wanted to get done. Once we scheduled a meeting I sat down with Hunter and developed a plan moving forward on what his site would look like. Once his site was finished I received some awesome feedback from multiple people and now this is my calling.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients I have found is word of mouth and relationships with people. Most people bring up in conversation what they have the most passion for and I find that when you run your own business you need to either have the passion or find another job. The other way that I have gained clients is by building a solid connection with everyone that I meet. What I mean by a solid connection is when you meet somebody do not just get their name and walk away. The steps I usually take are, to begin with their name and then a solid point of contact rather this is a phone number or email both options work well.

How’d you meet your business partner?
During 2019 I found that I needed to condense my footprint and seek out a business partner that would satisfy my company’s needs. This is where everything ties in a full circle, One day I was at my Dad’s office and throughout the conversation, I questioned who prints all of his company’s apparel. He answered me and said this guy out in Wills Point, Texas by the name of Gary. One week later I sold my largest order at the time fifty shirts double-sided, so I picked up the phone and called Gary. He told me that he could do it and he would price it to where I was going to money also, that was the moment I figured out the Concept of outsourcing. Since that day my company and Gary’s company have worked together on every deal and I really appreciate everything he has done for me.
