Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Serik Slobodskoy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Serik, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Launching The Hyperbits Masterclass, my online music production school, has been a defining chapter in my journey. It took me out of my comfort zone, beyond just producing tunes, and into areas like community-building, video editing, web development, and the intricate dance of digital marketing and partnerships. The learning curve was steep, but every challenge brought its own set of rewards.
Creating this platform reshaped how I view my role in the industry. It underscored the importance of genuinely serving others and prioritizing their aspirations. Music, inherently, bridges souls, and with the school, I’ve expanded that bridge into the realm of education, empowering many to find and amplify their voices.
Teaching and contributing to our musical community has deepened both my connection to the art and my belief in collective growth. I’ve always held that there are no hidden formulas, no secrets in music; embracing this outlook has truly enriched my journey and the community we’ve cultivated together.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Before diving into music production, I was anchored in corporate America, seeking stability but often feeling confined, unfulfilled, and honestly, quite depressed. I craved more — a spark, a creative flame, a deeper meaning.
Leaving the corporate world for the studio, my venture into music wasn’t solely about passion, but a search for true fulfillment. After collaborating with major labels like Universal, Sony, and EMI/Virgin and remixing for artists like Beyonce, Nick Jonas, and Tove Lo, the blueprint for The Hyperbits Masterclass emerged. I saw the struggles of up-and-coming artists – mastering intricate production nuances and battling internal self-doubts.
The Hyperbits Masterclass isn’t merely a course. It’s a lifeline for those yearning for musical transformation. And the proof is in the numbers – our students boast over a billion streams on Spotify. Our mission? To equip students to craft tracks that stand alongside industry titans, addressing both the technical and the emotional challenges they grapple with.
Our differentiator lies in our comprehensive focus on advanced production, creating a space where students shatter their barriers, musically and personally. Every success story reaffirms our mission and is a source of immense pride.
If you’re feeling cornered, whether in music or life’s grand score, remember: The Hyperbits Masterclass isn’t just about honing a skill; it’s a journey to uncover a version of yourself you’ve yet to meet.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding facet of being an artist for me is undeniably the element of connection.
There’s the thrill of sharing new music with friends and fans, the synergy of collaborating with fellow artists, or the profound satisfaction of guiding passionate producers to refine their artistry.
Music is this incredible canvas for expression, and it’s the act of creating and experiencing it together, with community, that truly amplifies its value for me.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Here’s an angle that may challenge popular belief: I’m convinced the whole “waiting for inspiration” notion is somewhat overblown.
That infamous “creative block”? It’s more of a mental challenge than an insurmountable obstacle.
To me, being a seasoned creative parallels other professions. We’re equipped with a unique arsenal of tools and a skill set refined over years. Just as most professionals can’t afford to linger in anticipation of some divine insight, neither can we. We lean on our expertise to propel us forward.
Consider this: in the same way a surgeon doesn’t pause for inspiration mid-surgery, a dedicated creative harnesses their process to deliver, regardless of fleeting inspiration. That, in essence, is the true spirit of the creative journey. It’s about getting to work and falling in love with the process.
