We were lucky to catch up with Serena Thangarajah recently and have shared our conversation below.
Serena, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Honestly, the idea for Pink Tiger came to me in the middle of a chaotic week, juggling motherhood, my own creative projects and trying to keep up with endless admin, social media, and all the tiny but important tasks that nobody tells you about when you decide to start a business. I remember sitting at my desk, staring at a my long to-do list, and thinking, surely there’s a better way to do this.
I realised so many founders, creatives and makers were in the exact same boat. They had incredible ideas, talent and vision, but were drowning in the stuff behind the stuff. And honestly, no one was offering support that was actually fun, personable, and tailored to their world. Most virtual assistant services felt corporate, cookie-cutter or just plain transactional.
That’s when the lightbulb went off. Why not create a service that is hands-on, flexible, and actually gets the life of a creative/founder? Something that could take care of the admin and social media, and even the little details they don’t have time for so they could focus on what lights them up.
So I dove in. Pink Tiger was born out of necessity, yes, but also excitement, creativity, and a little bit of stubbornness. The rest has been about building a system, a team and a brand that is as bold, playful, and reliable as the entrepreneurs we support.

Serena, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Serena, and I started out as a virtual assistant before founding Pink Tiger. Working directly with founders and creatives, I saw firsthand how overwhelming it can be to manage admin, social media, and all the behind-the-scenes tasks while trying to focus on your passion. I realised so many people were in the same boat, and that’s when the idea for Pink Tiger came to me- a service that really understands the life of a founder/creative and makes it easier to do what lights them up.
At Pink Tiger, we provide hands-on admin and social media support. We manage emails, invoices, to-do lists, schedule content, design graphic and coordinate projects. Essentially, we take the clutter off your plate so you can focus on your creative work.
What sets us apart is how personal we make the support. We get to know each founder or creative, their workflow, and their vision. We’re reliable, a little bold, fun, and genuinely invested in helping our clients succeed.
I’m most proud of the community we’ve built and the difference we make in our clients’ lives. Pink Tiger is here to make your life easier, organised and a lot more fun.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One moment that really tested my resilience came just as I was gearing up to launch Pink Tiger. I had everything planned and ready to go, and then my daughter came down with chicken pox. Overnight, all my carefully laid plans had to be put on hold. I stayed home with her and delayed the launch for a little while.
It was tough juggling single motherhood and building something from scratch, but I kept reminding myself why I started in the first place. I wanted to build a legacy for my daughter. That pause didn’t mean failure. It taught me patience and the power of persistence.
When I returned to the launch, I had renewed energy and determination. That experience reminded me why I do what I do. I help founders and creatives focus on their dreams while I handle the chaos, and I keep building something lasting for my daughter.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Honestly, the most effective strategy for growing our clientele has been good old-fashioned in-person networking. Having real conversations with founders and creatives, getting to know them and letting my personality shine through has made all the difference. People trust you when they see the person behind the brand, and taking the time to listen, connect, and genuinely understand their needs builds that trust quickly.
It’s not about flashy pitches or trying to sell at every single opportunity. It’s about showing up, being approachable, and letting people see that we really care about helping them. That personal connection has led to the majority of our clients and continues to be the cornerstone of how we grow Pink Tiger.
